Our take
Based on the ratings of 23,695 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in January 2026. No course pays to be reviewed.
Taimur Ijlal's course is a short primer on how AI and machine learning change risk and security work. It runs 17 lectures in five sections, about two hours in all. Most of that time goes to the AI cyber-security framework section, roughly 70 minutes, with another 36 on governance and risk management. No programming or AI background is assumed. It is built for risk managers, security people and AI staff who need to know what can go wrong, not how to build a model. There are three quizzes and no coding.
Reviewers like the plain explanations. One says it covered data poisoning, model evasion and AI bias in a simple, easy way. Another calls it a good primer that doesn't get too deep into the weeds. The complaint that keeps coming back is delivery. Many say the instructor talks too fast, a few find the accent or flat tone hard to follow, and one says the subtitles scroll too quickly to read next to the slides. One reviewer mentions poor audio and lessons that wouldn't load.
Some of the lower ratings call it thin on depth, and one says large parts still point to 2022 and 2023 examples. The description says it was recently updated with an agentic AI lesson, and the last update is dated January 2026. Treat it as orientation, not training. With about 99,000 students and a 4.5 rating from over 23,000 reviews, it clearly works as a first step. Anyone needing implementation detail will want something deeper afterward.
Pros
- Assumes no AI or programming background, so risk and audit staff can follow it
- Explains data poisoning, model evasion and AI bias in plain language, per reviewers
- A 70-minute security section walks through controls across the ML lifecycle
- Short enough to finish in an afternoon, and it has an agentic AI lesson
Cons
- Instructor speaks fast, and some reviewers find the accent or flat tone tiring
- Thin on depth, with some examples reviewers say still date from 2022 and 2023
- Subtitles scroll too fast for one reviewer, and some want translations beyond the subtitles
I though the information was a good primer and did not get too deep into the weeds. It made me want to dive deeper into the concepts.
Beginner fits: no AI or coding needed, though it suits working risk and security professionals more than hands-on builders.

Course Description
Recently updated with Agentic AI lesson !
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming every aspect of our world — from how we work and learn to how organisations make decisions. The global AI market is projected to reach approximately US$300+ billion by 2026, and with this rapid adoption comes a new generation of risks that traditional cybersecurity and governance frameworks simply can’t address.
AI governance and cyber-security is a new field for many professionals due to the (seeming) complexity around it. According to Gartner's Market Guide for AI Trust, Risk and Security Management “AI poses new trust, risk and security management requirements that conventional controls do not address.” This groundbreaking course has been addressed to cover this gap so that risk management professionals and cyber-security experts can understand the unique nature of AI risks and how to address them.
Are you interested in learning about the new risks which Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning introduces ?
Do you want to know how to create a governance and cyber-security framework for AI ?
If you answered YES then this course is for you ! This course is specifically designed to teach you about AI risks without any prior knowledge assumed. No technical knowledge of AI systems is required for this course.
With you course you will learn :
The key risks which AI and Machine Learning models introduce and how to address them
How to create a governance framework in your organization to enable AI risk management
The cyber-security risks which AI systems introduce and how to address them
How to implement security controls at each phase of the Machine Learning lifecycle
How to use ChatGPT to enhance your security processes

Cloud Security Guy knowledgeable but speaks too quickly, not clear enough at times, and uses 'like', 'right', 'ok', 'what do you call it' too many times to be offputting.
By Deepak Londhe on 6/10/2026
The course provided a strong foundation in understanding the risks associated with AI systems, including data privacy concerns, model vulnerabilities, bias, and ethical considerations. The integration of cybersecurity principles with AI was especially useful, as it highlighted real-world threats and mitigation strategies.
