Ive been recording in pro tools for some time now at the most basic level. I wanted to learn a bit more about the daw in a more structured way. This definitely exceeded my expectations. l learned many new tricks and short cuts I didnt know before. highly recommend

This is a very good lesson for folks that now about recording already but, I do not find that for me the simple answers I'm looking for were answered. Because, I am very new to this. It is too much for my mind to remember at this time. And I understand that it takes allot of practice and use. But for some of us this is not as involved. I originally wanted to know how to set up the ProTools for recording simple 2 or 3 tracks. And also adding effects. I'm still not sure of certain things about that. Like simple instructions of : Do I need to have the music that I am recording sent to a bus to hear its playback thru my Behringer x32. How can I hear the playback without using a bus.(thats not explained) I find no answers to that. The simple recording signal from my mixer to the ProTools and back thru my mixer. I feel that I have not got a definite answer on how that's done. Must I use a bus to make that happen, I need to be more technical for that simple application.

Even though this course is now 5 years old, there is a lot of information that someone can utilize. I come from working in Logic, and I was able to ingest this course fairly quickly and even learn new techniques like bus routing that I can use in any DAW. There are times where things don't look the same, but that is to be expected after so much time. The thing is, it's still Pro Tools 12, so there won't be too much different, and it won't be too hard to figure out if you're new like me.

Pro Tools has always been a pretty enigmatic piece of software. In comparison to other applications, it has always felt a little out-dated. Explaining some of these oddities is where I felt this course was strongest; there were things in Pro Tools that I didn't know which I learned about! I was able to understand more about the reason Pro Tools works the way it does. It also confirmed for me that Pro Tools can be problematic and difficult to use at times and is not super user friendly.
I wish the focus of the course would have stayed on the nuts and bolts of the program rather than venturing into the philosophy of Sound Design, Mixing, and Song Writing. However, I do appreciate what I came away with.
