Scott Duffy

Hi there, my name is Scott Duffy. And I love making complex technical topics easy to understand.

This has been the basis of my entire career – as a developer, as a development manager, as a software architect – over the past 20 years. I spend half my time in the world of business, explaining complex technical topics to business owners and stakeholders so that they can understand and agree with my approach to solving their business problems with technical solutions. And the other half with developers, explaining the business reasons behind decisions and ensuring that any decisions made on the technical side don't restrict the business in unexpected ways.

And I'm here on Udemy to teach what I know in an approachable way. I started teaching courses in 2014, and have taught over 1,600,000 students. I am grateful every day for being able to connect with so many students in almost every country around the world.

I'm a certified Enterprise Architect and certified cloud architect. I have been developing with Microsoft technologies for 20 years, starting with Classic ASP, and all the versions of .NET. We now live in the cloud era, with Microsoft Azure being prevalent in most large enterprises. I'm certified as an Azure Architect and Developer too. As well as AWS Solution Architect Associate (SAA).

Microsoft MVP Award winner for 2022-2025.

Great guide, explained well and with the right considerations. One last detail that I think would have given this course a perfect score would have been: - section dedicated to powershell deployment (can be recovered on the AZ-104) - a final exam simulation for practice, to create a whole environment with most things you have learned here (although this can be done independently) That being said, this is a great course, which gives you a good level to start studying more in detail the documentation and do the provided test for verifying and reviewing what knowledge you are lacking.

Overall a very good course. Well presented, clear, segmented in manageable videos. My issue is with the scope of content covered by the exam, and the fact that the exam is basically 25% networking. A systems person would have an easier time with the exam than a networking person will.

I thought the AZ-700 course was well done. All exam-relevant points were covered and explained well. What I missed was that the course did not include its own practical exercises, only those from Microsoft. I would have liked to see something original from the author here. I also miss learning materials such as PDFs, PowerPoint presentations, etc.

~ First time around I wrote 'Once again Scott Duffy has been masterful in his design and presentation of this course...' I scored 93% in the mock exam but still failed the Real AZ-700 proctored exam. The questions in the AZ-700 exam were much more complicated and Scott's words were so true. You really need to have very well developed practical skills to excel. - I still give the course 4.5 !!

Hello, the teacher is excellent. The concept of the course is excellent, the lessons are clear and concise. All exercises must be done. The course should be longer and explain the components in more detail. My suggestion to the lecturer is that at the end there is a large lab that connects all the elements and is similar to a production system.

An excellent course giving a great overview of complex Azure networking capabilities. It would have been nice if some further videos elaborated on the more advanced concepts but you can't have everything.

It was a good course and Trainer did not waste a single minute of my time. He has completed a course that would take 20 hrs within 6 hrs and saved me a lot of time for the exam perpetration. Thanks Scott

great course. I am an experienced Azure architect but needed some brushing up on some of the newer resource types. this was a concise presentation that follows the MS skills measured documentation. One missing piece is about the new Azure Route server which was recently added.

By Taukir Syed on 11/8/2021

Scott is humble. yes, I mean humble as he's going through everything from scratch. He could easily sell his AZ-104 course yet is doing each and every lab which shows his true commitment to help the students learn. As we can always improve, my recommendation to Scott would be to include more real world designs.

I’m sitting for the beta exam and Scott’s AZ-700 class clarified and crystallized a lot of services and Azure concepts. Even though I have a networking background, I like that he gave an intro to cloud networking for those who don’t. Furthermore, I liked him discussing the 4 types of load balancers (load balancer, app gateway, Azure front door and traffic manager). Scott also provided documentation. Finally, I liked that he did demos so that you could see how to replicate this in Azure portal. Can’t wait until he provides some sample practice exam questions.
