Our take
Based on the ratings of 32,500 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in August 2025. No course pays to be reviewed.
This is a short course on Azure DevOps Boards, the work tracking part of Microsoft's platform. The syllabus shows ten lectures and about 94 minutes, covering epics, features, backlogs, tasks, queries, charts and iterations. It is aimed at analysts, project managers and developers, and there are no requirements. Patrick Videos built it as a tight edit of a full-day class, so it moves fast and skips the pauses. It teaches Boards only, not pipelines or repos.
Reviewers mostly praise the clear explanations and the hands-on setup walk-through. Several business analysts say it matched their daily work, and a product manager coming from Jira and TFS called it a good base for a novice. One person jumped straight to the lectures they needed and said that worked. The teaching style comes up as "crystal clear." Complaints are small. One reviewer wanted a comparison with Jira, and another, who already knew other ticket systems, said a 7 minute review video was enough. About 1 percent of ratings are one or two stars.
With 85,466 students and a 4.5 rating across about 32,500 reviews, it is a safe pick for the narrow job it does. The content was last updated in August 2025, and none of the sampled reviews flag outdated screens. It is paid but short enough to finish in an evening. It suits newcomers to Boards. People who already know another ticket system may find it slow.
Pros
- Ten lectures in about 94 minutes, so it fits into one evening
- Covers epics, features, backlogs, tasks, queries, charts and iterations
- Reviewers call the explanations clear, with a hands-on project setup walk-through
- No prerequisites, and reviewers say jumping to a single lecture works fine
Cons
- Boards only, with no pipelines or repos and no comparison to Jira
- One experienced ticket-tool user calls it too long and mostly familiar
- Practice is thin: one quiz, no coding exercises and no practice tests
I found this course really useful explaining in detail how to set up a project, add team, team permissions, create EPIC etc. Good for a novice to understand the basics.
Beginner fits: no requirements, built for analysts and PMs new to Azure DevOps, though Jira users may skim.

I finished mechanical engineering, but decided to pursue computers due to better job opportunities. But the transition was anything but smooth. It took me a long time just to get a hang of object oriented programming. I took the help of many instructors, but to no avail. I finally figured it out using innumerable boring books, and I wished they had taught me differently, saving me all that time and frustration. I just thought I will save you some time! Hope you like it!
Most people find it difficult to listen in class or to lectures. This is not the fault of the student. TV and internet has made us tune out of listening to anything that does not visually stimulate and engage us.
These step by step video tutorial is to fill that void. It is not only effective but is also time saving.
Concepts are explained in a refreshingly simple manner. You will love the videos. I guarantee it.

I was looking for a quick tutorial when I've found this fair interface presentation of the Azure DevOps Boards. It gives few tips about project management too.

Training is OKish, could be shorter. For someone already having basic understanding of other tickets systems, this is a bit of waste of time, the 7 min review video is more than enough.

Your explanation and the way you created the project on the Azure DevOps Board were very good. The PDF you shared was also extremely helpful.

I liked this course as a very good introduction to Azure Devops. I worked as QA automation engineer and these videos helped me to understand the workflows of a project manager/product owner and thus better contribute to the sucess of a project.

Nice content. Loved it, easy to follow and greatly appreciate the final downloadable content which is like a cheat sheet I can glance at and get the info needed easily.

I followed along with my own Azure DevOps login and duplicated everything we learned. It was a great way to learn all the topics. This was great!!!

Very thorough for Project Managers. I appreciated that the teacher did not speak too fast and also that he reinforced the material. I would have liked to see more examples of capacity planning and use of areas.
