Course Description
In this fourth part of the Beyond Arduino series, you'll learn many techniques to produce more efficient and professional embedded applications. It's time to leave the toy programs behind.
You'll learn how to handle memory-attached hardware registers properly, how to perform bitwise manipulation of data, how to handle interrupts on your microcontroller development platform, and many other techniques which you aren't always aware of because of the immense body of elements that conceal the details in many beginner platforms, like the Arduino, for the sake of simplicity.
You'll also learn how to deal with very basic, typically 8-bit, microcontrollers that don't have a Floating Point Unit and still write code that gets the job done in the best way possible even with the limited resources available.
After grasping this knowledge, we expect you to think differently when designing your embedded applications in the future. By adding these best practices to your bag of tricks, you'll get one step closer to making embedded applications like a professional, and hopefully you'll feel less like a beginner.

I'm an Electrical and Computer Engineer. I've been teaching Electrical and Computer Engineering at undergraduate and graduate for nearly 20 years.
I love hardware, software and teaching.
I have 11 courses on Udemy so far: One about a technique to solve engineering problems easily, a series of 4 courses (so far) on the electronics and algorithms behind microcontroller platforms, a series on FPGAs, and a series on RISC-V.
Among the subjects in the classes I teach on campus, my strongest are Electrical Circuit Theory, Electronic Devices, Digital Design, Computer Architecture, Microcontrollers, Assembly and C Programming for Embedded Applications, Hardware Description Languages, Field Programmable Gate Arrays, Artificial Intelligence, Printed Circuit Board Design and Real Time Operating Systems.
Along with two of my finest colleagues, I created one of the first MOOCs in Spanish, an introduction to the Raspberry Pi. I also contributed in the translation of "The RISC-V Reader", by Turing Award laureate David Patterson and Andrew Waterman.
I recently got a Master of Science in Computer Science at Georgia Tech and I loved every minute of it.

I'm impressed with how well things are explained. Instructor takes the time to show why things are the way they are and what not to do. Pays close attention to subjects that cause confusion to learners.

Yes it was a little bit beyond me but I learned so mush in your course and I like the fact that I can go back and look at it again and again. Most of the things were explained will, you are a good instructor. Some things in the course were two small to see when you were programing but you corrected it as you went on in some instances. Thanks Rainman

THIS IS A STAND ALONE COURSE He covers the C fundamentals that get swept under the rug when first learning and that they wrongly assume you already know when doing more advanced learning. I'm very comfortable on the embedded hardware side of things but kinda throw mud around when writing code and I know there are better ways to do what I want to accomplish. I look at libraries and see so many cryptic lines of code that use magic I haven't seen before. Other tutorials are too busy teaching you to blink an LED or connect to space satellites to teach you these fundamental magic tricks in C. Finally I know the magic and I feel way more comfortable about my C knowledge. Take this class if you know Arduino but feel a hole in your heart where a MACRO function was removed by the pre-compiler.

I am sure that the instructor is very knowledgeable about this course and he explains very well. However, the level of this course is more advanced than I have expected although this is interesting.

Great course! I understand that this course is done mainly for beginners but it can be expanded to a bigger advanced course with embedded programming best practices.

The lessons are clearly explained.

very clear and informative.cheers

Why use sloppy and unreliable examples, and not even tell how to make them more correct. The blocking delay example made me cringe. Also please do not use indescriptive variable names as examples, since it further promotes bad coding conducts, there should be no excuse to do things badly ans sloppily...
