Course Description
If you are a developer, data scientist, or AI enthusiast who wants to build and run large language models (LLMs) locally on your system, this course is for you. Do you want to harness the power of LLMs without sending your data to the cloud? Are you looking for secure, private solutions that leverage powerful tools like Python, Ollama, and LangChain? This course will show you how to build secure and fully functional LLM applications right on your own machine.
In this course, you will:
Set up Ollama and download the Llama LLM model for local use.
Customize models and save modified versions using command-line tools.
Develop Python-based LLM applications with Ollama for total control over your models.
Use Ollama's Rest API to integrate models into your applications.
Leverage LangChain to build Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems for efficient document processing.
Create end-to-end LLM applications that answer user questions with precision using the power of LangChain and Ollama.
Why build local LLM applications? For one, local applications ensure complete data privacy—your data never leaves your system. Additionally, the flexibility and customization of running models locally means you are in total control, without the need for cloud dependencies.
Throughout the course, you’ll build, customize, and deploy models using Python, and implement key features like prompt engineering, retrieval techniques, and model integration—all within the comfort of your local setup.
What sets this course apart is its focus on privacy, control, and hands-on experience using cutting-edge tools like Ollama and LangChain. By the end, you’ll have a fully functioning LLM application and the skills to build secure AI systems on your own.

Ive studied cloud computing but I needed something local in the field that I'm in. This is well presented so far and exactly what I was looking for.

Lectures were right-sized for learning consumption. I did not get lost from one lecture to the next. Choices in the learning examples, such as building a tool that did not require an API key, was helpful in understanding why code snippets were crafted as they were for instruction. Explanation of why code examples were built in the sequence was also helpful.

Great course for the basics of running a local llm, only hoped it would go a little deeper into what more possibilities are

I really liked this course. It had a good mix of theory and practice. The explanations were easy to follow and the exercise made fun. My only point of critique are the outdated Jupyter-notesbooks. I had several issues with deprecated packages and api-issues with wikipedia. So please, keep the notebooks up-to-date.

This was an excellent intro for Ollama and Langchain. All code, examples and instructions worked well and matched the available software versions (reviewed April 2026.)

I would like to suggest using a dark background color in your slides. It helps when we are going through the course at night.

A lot of the syntax is out of date. Also sometimes he tells you to use a library that has not been installed.

This course is golden, it explains key topics to get started with python and AI. ie. it contains simple minimal python code to demostrate on how use python for various AI use cases. After this course, I feel confident for the way forward with python and AI.

Good explanation of how we can make use of Ollama to create our local RAG model, AI agent and tools. Easy to follow for a beginner.

This course was exactly what I needed to de-mystify all the popular jargon around AI tools - it explained Small Language Models, RAG, Lang-Chain, and got me started with using ollama to run AI models locally Everything was described straight and to the point. Well done.
