Course Description
This course is a comprehensive introduction to Chemistry, covering everything you will need to know as you prepare for possible future exams. It doesn't matter how much, or how little, prior knowledge of Chemistry you've got as this course will take you through all the necessary stages.
The content is based on the International GCSE specification as followed by thousands of students around the world, and will prepare you thoroughly for progression to advanced programmes.
In Section 1, The Principles of Chemistry, there are five video lessons, each one lasting about 20 minutes. The first lesson introduces the states of matter and atomic structure. In the next lesson we progress to relative formula mass and chemical equations - don't be put off by these as everything is very carefully explained! Lesson 3 covers chemical formulae, and we progress in lesson four to look at reacting masses, ionic bonding and covalent bonding. Lesson five wraps up this part of the course with metallic crystals and electrolysis.

I have been a teacher in the UK for nearly 30 years, and am currently the Director of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) at a large comprehensive school in East Sussex. To bore you with the qualifications, I have a Joint Honours Degree in Botany and Zoology from University College, Cardiff, and a PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of East Anglia. I was also one of the first Advanced Skills Teachers in the South East of England.
I am a passionate believer in life-long learning, and I will do whatever I can to encourage learning for all ages. Using videos to enhance learning has great potential, and I try to exploit this through my websites.
On a personal level I am married to a primary school headteacher, and we have two grown-up daughters. When not creating videos or teaching I relax (!) by working out at the gym, watching rugby and football, and doing a little work around the garden.

The course is very informative and easy to follow and understand the only downside is the subtitles are awful sometimes I need to use them as my hearing isn’t so good and the subtitles are quite often gibberish. This could do with sorting out.

The information that 3-rd shell can have up to 8 electrons was misleading. I had to figure it out that there are also subshells which makes it possible that on the thirs shell we can have up to 18 electrons, and I had to check it in some other source. (2n^2) - where n is the main quantum number. 3-rd lesson - great :-)

Very interesting part 1 course! Listening to someone with an understandable accent is oddly an attention holder to me. The structure of the lecturing was decent. I still remember the term 'ionic' being used in the first video but did not learn the meaning until a couple of videos later. I also did not get a direct definition of an electrode: Just the examples with pictures. Either way, I still did enjoy this course! It has done so well for my upcoming Chemistry course in the Fall!

A good match! This course is so well done and suitable for any type of chemistry learning routine, I found it very addictive and really fun, you really grasp the fundamentals and back bone of chemistry, you can gain a lot from these courses, I've repeated the 4 series 5 times, endless fun!

A well done and formulated video as well as the instructor has a deep, thorough knowledge of Chemistry as you can see from his passion and excitement in teaching the subject. He is clear, precise and reminds us to go back over anything you might not have understood on the first go as this will most certainly help you to better understand the subject.

Fantastic job! I really enjoy it!!! The teacher is great at showing his knowledge on chemistry. I have always liked chemistry. I never wanted to be a scientist but I really like having knowledge shoved into my brain. Anyways the person is very intelligent at his course. If you want to shove more info in your head or for other reasons you should try this course. It is just a little pricey though for only 1 hour of teaching you. Would not suggest it if you have a low money.

I really like this course. The information is presented in an understandable way and I can understand the instructor's words. I do wish that there were more practice problems, but other than that it's been great.

Great presentation and pace, but it sure would be nice to have printable notes as a resource rather than just a synopsis of what each section will cover. I spent a lot of time writing notes and then going back and listening to the sentence again. Notes could be fill in the blanks so there is still writing down ideas to learn them but not having to copy each word of the lecture. It would be great if the illustrations were printable. Overall, I really like the course. It's a great refresher!

I always thought of chemistry to be very confusing, just to realize now it was probably a fault of my school teachers. Instructor Graham Bray has explained all important details so well and in a fun and easy to learn manner, he deserves 10 out of 5 stars. Fantastic course series all from part 1 to 3.

I am a popular science fan with a background in maritime engineering. I needed this course to be able to understand the terminology of chemistry and its place in daily life. I think this course introduces you to the basics of chemistry giving you a good foundation for further learning.
