Cisco CCENT / ICND1 (100-105) + Bonus: The Complete Course (Udemy.com)

I enjoyed all of the examples given in packet tracer during this course and it helped refresh a lot of my knowledge on topics I haven't read about since I did Sec+. However, I feel like there was still a lot missing from this course so if you only utilized this course and no other exam material I don't think you would have passed the CCENT. Nevertheless with the CCENT gone this is still a good starting point to gain basic information and commands to start in your cisco journey.

I feel like this is a really good course for those who have already been involved with networking before, as a refresher. I don't feel like it's the from beginner to CCENT I thought it would be, especially lacking examples in IPv6. I would like the examples to be a bit more inspired by real life, for example setting up a realistic office and using that example to build on. Adding more devices, adding servers, security etc as you go along. Lazaro as a teacher has great delivery, is a lot of fun to listen to and very engaged. Even considering myself as higher than average in prior networking knowledge, I feel the course was sometimes a bit over my head. Would just like some more consideration going into the fact that as CCENT is the entry level certification, there will be beginners taking this course and feeling like it is too complicated.

I like this course. Laz is engaging which really helps the dry, Cisco material. I know a lot of this material already and still learned things from this course. That's a good sign. I got this on sale and it was definitely worth the money. Following along in the labs was my favorite part and most of the quizzes were helpful. To do the labs you'll need a simulator or some gear. The biggest problem with this course is the technical issues with the audio and some typos/mistakes. The audio occasionally cuts out and some typos are confusing. I recommend getting videos on the same material from a few different vendors to see the same subjects from different perspectives and different teaching styles. Laz recommends reading the Odom and Lammle books at the beginning of the course too which is good.

I first found Laz on YouTube where he helped me understand VLAN configuration for an assignment (HND). I bought this course to brush up on my networking knowledge and get a better understanding of some of the aspects I have little experience of, such as IPv6 (I have even bought Laz's book). I was going to start this course after an ethical hacking course I bought in November, but I found myself flying through this one and going back to the other afterwards. I have got the CCNA course too (both were £20) but I have to focus on researching for my dissertation (unfortunately nothing to do with networks), but I can't actually wait to start.

The video course helped make everything more understandable. He presented all the material clearly and with a common sense approach. Only negative thing I have to say is that in one segment Laz actually says that there won't be any questions on the exam asking for RFC numbers. Well surprise, I had 3 questions that gave RFC numbers and asked what they dealt with....LOL..I'm getting his CCNA video tutorial now. Thats what I think about Las and his teaching abilities!!

good knowledge but...I dont think its going to help me pass the ccent. I have taken it once and it doesn't really cover anything taught here. Its so general and the test ask for more detailed information. Some of these quiz questions arent even discussed in the videos. I am going to finish the course and se if it helps. I have taken practice test and im failing them. This offers good summary's but the test ask for details I don't think ive heard here.

When displaying info, it would be best to stand on the right side of the screen when pointing things out since this is usually the area where less information is shown. Also try to eliminate words like 'it' and 'do that' when referring to specific subject matters and processes and just state the name of said subjects. This would help out a beginner like me tremendously. Other than that great teaching style and method. Good to get insight on real world scenarios rather than just the exam material. Thanks

I am reaffirming some things that I already learned. Also I learning the correct theories of other concepts. Example when to use static routes verses RIP. I still like my method subnetting and find IPv4 addresses but it was reassuring to IPv4 explained. I have purchased Laz's " The Only IP Book You Will Ever Need", in hope learning IPv6 better. So far I like what I am learning Dennis Future CCNA

Some of the lectures had some faulty audio, either the audio cut out for a bit or the audio popped and was low. Another reason was that Laz was not careful in making sure he was looking at the right IP address when assigning something. Other than that, he is a great lecturer snd is very animated which kept my attention focused. He is precise in his diagrams and provides you what you need to know on the exam. I love the different shirts he uses in his lectures.

This is great for review and practice. This course has just about everything that is in the Cisco Press 100-105 Official Cert Guide book. In my book from Cisco Press, it states that you should go back over your chapters and online materials until you become an expert of that chapter. Then take the practice exam to know where you stand with the content. You can do this before and after every chapter studied as a way to measure your retention. Taking this course along with the study guides just adds to your knowledge and brings you closer to being ready for the real certification exam. Lazaro Diaz not only summarizes, but breaks it down for better understanding and reiterates practice for better memory retention. “Practice breads retention”. Thank you Network Doctor Diaz.
