Course Description
Classical Guitar Course for Adults – Level 1
This course is designed to give you a strong and reliable foundation as a classical guitarist.
It is built around two main aspects that develop together from the very beginning:
• Guitar Playing
• Music Theory
Both areas are carefully connected so that your technical skills and your musical understanding grow side by side.
Guitar Playing
This aspect focuses on the physical and technical development of your playing — posture, hand position, tone production, coordination, and control.
Through carefully selected exercises, études, and pieces, new techniques are introduced gradually and naturally. Each lesson prepares you for the next one, allowing you to progress with clarity and confidence, without feeling overwhelmed.
The goal is not simply to play notes, but to build a comfortable, controlled, and expressive relationship with the instrument.
Music Theory
The music theory in this course is practical and directly connected to what you play on the guitar.
You will learn exactly the concepts that support your current repertoire — no abstract topics that you “might need later.” Everything is introduced in sync with your playing, helping you understand the structure, harmony, and musical meaning behind the notes.
This approach makes theory clear, relevant, and immediately applicable.
Ensemble Playing
The course also includes ensemble experience through guitar duets and a trio.
Playing with others develops listening skills, timing, rhythmic stability, and awareness of multiple musical voices. These skills strongly enhance your solo performance and deepen your overall musical understanding.
Visual Learning Support
Every note I play during the lessons is highlighted in real time with a cursor or dot.
This visual support makes it easy to follow the score, understand what is being played, and stay fully connected to the music throughout the learning process.

Great teacher, explains things very clearly. I’ve been playing guitar for about 15 years, but recently I became interested in venturing into the world of classical music. I think that whether you’re a beginner or already have some experience with the guitar, this course is very helpful, since people from a popular music background usually don’t read partitura or don’t know certain music theory concepts. So for me it was an excellent course, and I’ve already purchased part 2.

This course has a great, step by step content for the starting guitar learner! There are valuable tips in each lessons for playing musically (dynamics, technical details, etc) and these are being introduced from the first lecture. These details are often overlooked by many teachers but not by Valentin. Great job!

Very nice experience. This course took me a month with practicing 1-2 hrs every day except one. It's a cool thing to get to this new routine in life where you take time off and mess with the guitar and also my partner can take this time to do her stuff. Afterwards all are happier. Had many hard moments with fingers and reading the notes where lines and dots merged into unreadable fuzzyness in front of me. Interestingly the most painful finger is the thumb while finger tips have thick skin now. Coolest moment was the first duet which was the moment when it really felt like playing a song for real. It felt very happy, like yes, I actually can do it! As I have no other music learning experience to compare and I'm happy with this, I can only give max stars.

I have been playing classical guitar in the manner of acoustic guitar for many years. I signed up the course series, inclding this basic level 1, to learn the "correct manner" of classical guitar playing. As expected the content is easy to me. However, the right hand technique "apoyando (i.e. alternate index finger and middle finer to play melody notes)" drives me nuts because I needs to adapt myself a lot. I hope the teacher would have mentioned why "apoyando" is important.

The teacher clearly knows what he is talking about and loves music! I did some other guitar courses here in Udemy and I can say Valentin is by far the best teacher I came across so far. The lessons are paced and efficient. You learn how and why to do things. I recommend it and believe it's worth your time and money if you want to start playing classical guitar!

The course was so well designed and the instruction and demonstration was so clear. I felt like I progressed steadily and all my questions were answered. I went from not knowing a single thing on guitar to feeling like I have a solid grip on basic foundations and now I can pluck some fun tunes! I’m confident in my ability to keep learning. I’m really looking forward to starting level 2!

Valentin Spasov is an excellent teacher, all elements are explained carefully in a detailed but accessible and humorous manner ensuring that the student’s progression is steady and logical. I thoroughly enjoyed the first level and am already looking forward to completing the next two. Highly recommended. Thank you Valentin!

Very nice course. I did not expect classical player / teacher to be funny and easy-going, but Mr Spasov is ;) The course is made well, everything is clearly explained and the videos are not long-winded. You get the information about the benefits of this or that exercise, which helps if you're getting bored with something :) Mr Spasov also mentions possible mistakes that should be avoided. I highly recommend this course :)

I like this course very much! I have progressed through each section at my own pace rather than at the pace of the weekly lessons that I've tried with a personal instructor. It wasn't my personal instructors fault that I didn't do as well well him, It's just that I didn't always have time to do the exercises that were assigned. This lets me work at my own pace and I am looking forward to the next level.
