Coding for Writers: Basic Programming (Udemy.com)

The pace and level of detail is just what I was looking for. For people like me who don't code and only write about it, it's easy to forget details and best practices. My schedule means I only get to this course when I can, so I'm often reviewing lessons that I've already done. The bonus is that this format allows me to do that quickly, so that I can make progress. Pretty happy with the course.

Thanks to this course, I can finally learn how to read codes. Never do you consider this course short, it is really full of information that I felt that I have passed a complete course in college. It has a lot of useful exercises that lead you through programming and all you need to know as a technical writer. This course can help me to read codes and to know how to document them, the thing that I have never been taught before. Furthermore, you can get familiar with tools which help you to document different programming languages. I highly recommend it to everyone since it is an incredibly good course. Don't miss Peter Gruenbaum's courses as it is so informative.

The explanation is bit fast. I wish the course had easier assignments. it was easy in the beginning. But, it gets hard as the course progresses.

I have taken several courses from Peter Gruenbaum that teach technical writers a little bit about coding and a lot about how to create quality API documentation. All of his courses are great. I recommend you take his whole series. I like that the exercises let you play with code and then document it. (Don't worry, he links to the correct answers if you get stuck.) I love that he always has a detailed intro section, followed by the main information, and finishes with a detailed review section. This is very helpful to hear things again so it sinks into your brain.

I would say it is just too short and goes too fast. The explanations could have been better as well, as I got very confused at their explanation of 'mod', which turned out to be pretty simple, and various other things as well.
