Complete Filmmaker Guide: Become an Incredible Video Creator (Udemy.com)

I was not expecting to do a Udemy course and end up loving it, much less to then enjoy analysing lighting setups, camera transitions, and emotional cues in the soundtrack of everything I watch, but here we are, so... The Complete Filmmaker Guide led by Julian Melanson is probably the most comprehensive and immersive piece of online learning I’ve ever done. It has it all: a holistic and engaging intro, the A–Z of filmmaking, a ton of useful resources, and all the knowledge in a digestible and easy-to-follow format.

Being a self-taught content creator, it can be- a lot of times- like building a house without a foundation. This course allowed be the ability to review or put names to things I was already doing and fill in the gaps of what knowledge I was missing. I look forward to being able to apply this new knowledge in a much more solid way going forth.

This course was incredibly insightful, it felt a little slow at the start, but as it went on it made perfect sense for why the lectures were ordered in such a way. Can't grow a tree when you don't burrow a seed. I think ALL of the Pre-production phase, Insights & Inspiration and etc. really puts into perspective how important the First Step is if you want to make a good video. Not just for yourself but also when working with a team. Which I think is often overlooked in filmmaking especially nowadays with so many people getting into video thanks to social media, usually without any guidance. Of course ALL of the course was incredibly helpful, but the first few sections REALLY stood out to me and definitely felt like the MOST important part. Which will probably be the least favored part of the course for most students.

the quality of the course exceeded my expectations, this is the right course to combine theory with the practical aspects of video making. Julian Melanson is a good teacher and he managed to make teaching fun while treating the topics with seriousness and depth. I highly recommend this course to those like me who want to start the journey of video making but also to those who already have experience.

The information in this course has helped greatly and I even got a comment on my last YouTube upload where the viewer said it was "a well edited video," so thanks for that. I'm far from the level I aspire to but as I develop with what I have learned here I hope to continue to improve. Although it seemed to go on forever, and took me a while to finish, I found the information easy to apply to my own videography and have already used what I have learned. The only aspect I would have loved more information on is fps - the when and why. Thank you for being so thorough. I will definitely re-watch as and when I need the specific aspects. Way too much to remember everything.

Not a lot of valuable or new information, the entire course could be compressed in 30mins and you would still get the same value. Nothing better than what the free Youtube tutorials have to offer and it has way too many fillers.

The course is extremely useful for both amateur filmmakers. Anybody with little to vast knowledge about filmmaking can easily understand the concepts and the educator’s vision. It not just explores the technicalities involved in A/V Production, but also throws light on other crucial aspects of Planning and Pre Production process. That is how this course stands out from other courses available online.

ENG: I'm not really a beginner videomaker, I can make videos and although this course is a bit "Entry level" (and that's ok), it was really very useful for me to improve my skills. Recommended! ITA: Non sono propriamente un videomaker principiante, ho già imparato a fare video ma con questo corso anche se un po' "Entry Level" (e ci sta) sono riuscito in ogni modo a migliorare un po' le mie skills. Nice overview, a great starting point. If you need more technical stuff or specifics for editing, camara and so on, this might not be enough. But Julian makes an excelent work transfering his inner process as an artist, approach, focus and flow with this craft. Really nice view btw man! Totally in with your vibe and style PD: Dont skip the first chapter, it really makes sense with the whole process and teaching style of the course
