This list is for anyone who wants to edit video properly: YouTubers and social media creators, people making videos for work, and anyone who wants to move past their phone’s built-in editor. Our video editing category lists 298 courses, and our Premiere Pro and After Effects categories list further courses on those two programs. These nine are the ones we would pick for each editor and each need. They have over 139,000 student reviews between them and are rated 4.2 to 4.9. Eight were updated in 2025 or 2026; the filmmaking course was last updated in June 2023, and we say so below.
Every rating, review count, length and last-update date on this page comes from our catalogue and is refreshed with it. The pros and cons are written by CourseDuck’s editors from the course syllabus and a sample of the written student reviews, and checked against both; no course pays to be on this list. Udemy prices move with its sales, so treat the price on each card as the current one, not a fixed one.
Which editor first? Premiere Pro is the industry standard and needs an Adobe subscription. DaVinci Resolve has a free version that most people can learn on. CapCut also has a free version and is built for short social videos. Final Cut Pro runs only on a Mac. Pick the editor, then the course.
How to pick
- You use Premiere Pro: Adobe Premiere Pro Masterclass for the full tour, Premiere Pro CC Essentials to learn through projects, or the Complete Premiere Pro Bootcamp to finish a demo reel.
- You want a free editor: DaVinci Resolve Mastery.
- You want footage to look cinematic: Color Grading with DaVinci Resolve.
- You make Shorts, Reels and TikToks: Video Editing in CapCut.
- You edit on a Mac: The Complete Final Cut Pro X Course.
- You want titles, motion graphics and effects: Adobe After Effects CC Bootcamp.
- You also need to shoot it: Complete Filmmaker Guide.
Adobe Premiere Pro
1. Adobe Premiere Pro Masterclass: Video Editing in Premiere
Phil Ebiner’s course is the most-reviewed Premiere Pro course in our catalogue: about 46,700 reviews at 4.6 and roughly 527,000 students. It opens with a one-hour crash course, then works through importing, cutting, audio, titles, color, effects, green screen and exporting, with practice clips so you edit real projects as you go. It runs about 27 hours over 308 lectures and was refreshed in December 2025. Reviewers call it clear and straight to the point. About nine of those hours are an archived older version of the course, one reviewer says the second half repeats a lot, and there are no quizzes.
Pros
- One-hour crash course up front gets total beginners cutting video before the deep material starts
- Downloadable practice clips so students edit real projects as they learn instead of just watching
- Covers the extras people want: green screen, stabilizing shaky footage, and auto reframe for vertical video
- Refreshed in December 2025, and reviewers call the explanations clear and straight to the point
Cons
- Nine of the 27 hours are an archived old version, and one reviewer says the second half repeats a lot
- A one-star review says many lessons show older Premiere versions, and a Windows user struggled to follow the Mac setup
- One intermediate editor says he already knew most of it; there are no quizzes or graded assignments
What students say
Nadav BamnolkerAn excellent and up-to-date course, thoroughly covering all the important operations in the software. It clearly seems that this is the most comprehensive course in the field. Thank you very much.
La PazI've just started the course with 0 experience using Premiere Pro. The one hour Crash course was absolutely worth it! It was clear and easy to follow. I'm so excited to continue with rest of the course.

2. Adobe Premiere Pro CC: Essentials Training Course
Daniel Walter Scott teaches Premiere through seven real projects instead of a tour of the menus: a talking head, a wedding, a social media ad, a parkour documentary, a screencast tutorial and a photo slideshow, plus a 28-lecture audio section on noise, echo and syncing. It runs just under 16 hours over 141 lectures with 10 assignments, was updated in January 2025 and has about 11,600 reviews at 4.7. Reviewers call his teaching friendly and not patronising. Two say it runs long, and one calls the Q&A support thin.
Pros
- Seven project-based sections: talking head, wedding, social ads, documentary, screencast and photo slideshow
- A 28-lecture audio section covers echo, fan hum, syncing and looping background music
- Reviewers describe the teaching as friendly, funny and not patronizing, and some return for his other courses
- Updated January 2025, with 10 assignments and a dedicated shortcuts lecture to speed up editing
Cons
- Nearly 16 hours; two reviewers say it runs long and the instructor repeats himself
- Q&A support is thin: one reviewer calls asking questions there a fairly useless exercise
- One Windows user was confused by the Apple version of Premiere shown on screen
What students say
Melissa DrewesI finished this course and am excited to move to the advanced course. I knew nothing when I came in. The pace was good, and I liked the repetition to keep reminding me of things we had learned. It's a lot to take in. Thanks Mr. Vignette.
Martina CasaSince I've unfortunately found myself unemployed again, I decided it was time to start this Course. I've already attended PS, In and Illustrator Courses by Daniel and this one seems promising just like the others! I'm curious about what I'll learn this time 🙂

3. The Complete Adobe Premiere Pro Video Editing Bootcamp
Louay Zambarakji’s course is built around one documentary project: more than 230 professionally shot clips that you take through organising, cutting, audio, titles, color correction with the Lumetri scopes, grading and chroma keying, ending with a one to five minute demo reel. It runs about 9.7 hours over 110 lectures, was updated in November 2025 and is rated 4.9 from about 7,300 reviews, the highest rating on this list. Reviewers say each lesson builds clearly on the last. One student says parts feel outdated, and motion graphics and effects get only a light touch.
Pros
- Learn on 230+ professionally shot documentary clips and finish with your own demo reel
- Reviewers say lessons build on each other clearly and the explanations are easy to follow
- Full color correction workflow with Lumetri scopes plus a grading section, rare in a beginner course
- Last updated November 2025, and one reviewer was glad it works on both Mac and Windows
Cons
- One student says parts feel outdated and the sections could use reorganizing
- No quizzes or assignments; the demo reel is the only structured practice
- Under ten hours, so motion graphics, effects and advanced audio get only a light touch
What students say
Ranjeet JaswalI have no words to express my gratitude. I was never taught the way you taught in this course. The shortcuts you told in this video were amazing. Hoping to continue happy learning. Fully satisfied up until now.
Udemy UserI've watched a few other video courses on the Black Majic Camera app and this is the best. Explains every detail in an understandable way. Each lesson builds on the previous one. I'm going back through it just to make sure I truly understand everything he's teaching.

DaVinci Resolve and color grading
4. DaVinci Resolve Mastery: The Complete Video Editing Bootcamp
Louay Zambarakji’s Resolve course is the most-reviewed DaVinci Resolve course in our catalogue: about 15,300 reviews at 4.6. It covers every page of the free editor, Cut, Edit, Fusion, Color, Fairlight and Deliver, plus vertical video for Shorts and Reels, in about 17 hours over 264 short lectures, with exercise footage. It was refreshed for the current version in September 2026. Reviewers use it as a reference afterwards. Low-star reviewers say the practice clips are dull and the course explains what each tool does more than when to use it.
Pros
- Lessons run a few minutes each, so reviewers use the course as a reference manual afterward
- Covers Cut, Edit, Fusion, Color and Fairlight pages, with about a quarter of the run time on color
- Updated in September 2026, with captions in 14 languages and downloadable exercise footage
- One reviewer with editing experience says the tempo is quick with no filler, and the sections build in a logical order
Cons
- Practice clips are repetitive and dull; one reviewer says they are too weak to build portfolio work from
- Explains what each tool does but rarely why or when to use it, so the craft side is thin
- A recent renumbering of lectures broke some students’ progress tracking, and a few find the accent hard
What students say
Sabatino OgnibeneI did not expect to be comfortable with the fusion, fairlight, and color pages in Davinci Resolve, but after taking this class I am. Lou also is a great teacher. Really amazing. The order he teaches everything in and his style of teaching is perfect. I am recommending this class to anyone who wants to do video editing.
Peter HellstrandLouay really manage to make a course that is 100% compatible to my capability to learning things. I followed a couple DaVinci trainings in the past, but none of them has been so fruitful for my skills as this course. Now I feel ready to go further and learn all the segments of DaVinci more deeply. So, thanks a lot Louay for this fantastic experience.

5. Color Grading with Da Vinci Resolve: Beginner to Advanced
Matthew Falconer is a working colorist, and this course is built around jobs he was paid to grade. The first half covers the conform, scopes, primary grades and a long block of secondaries; the second is project work on a corporate video, a music video, a feature film scene and a full short film. It runs about 34 hours over 137 lectures in DaVinci Resolve, was updated in July 2025 and has about 5,400 reviews at 4.6. It assumes you can already edit. Reviewers praise the clear, followable pace. One says the download files do not match the lesson footage, so check them early.
Pros
- Four long project sections: corporate, music video, feature scene and a full short film
- Slow, clear explanations that reviewers say are easy to follow along with
- Covers conform, scopes, secondaries, node trees, LUTs and color management in one place
- Large, well-rated base: 4.6 from 5,368 ratings, refreshed in July 2025
Cons
- A couple of reviewers find the videos dull or padded with unimportant detail
- One reviewer says the download files do not match the lesson footage
- One reviewer’s Blackmagic RAW question went unanswered by the instructor for a week

Steven WyattThis is probably one of the best tutorials on Resolve on Udemy. On a serious note this is a very big deep dive into the inner workings of Resolve but even more so, it is more valuable for watching the tutor practise his colour grading techniques, which in turn you follow along with. To get the benefit you need to watch the videos particularly his process on first and second passes. You don't...

Quick and simple: CapCut and Final Cut Pro
6. Video Editing in CapCut | Beginner to Pro | Desktop + Mobile
AI Video School’s course, taught by Phil Ebiner and Dan, is the quick start in the free CapCut editor: about two hours on the desktop app and just over an hour on mobile, 3.6 hours over 53 lectures in all, aimed at short videos for TikTok, Instagram and YouTube Shorts. It was updated in September 2026 and has about 3,900 reviews at 4.5. Beginners call it clear and easy to follow. Some find it too basic, shortcuts and clicks move fast, and audio volume dips in places.
Pros
- Covers both the desktop and mobile CapCut apps in one course, 53 lectures in total
- Beginners call it clear and easy to follow, with a good structure
- Short at 3.6 hours, so a total newcomer can finish it quickly
- Updated in September 2026, with a section on recent CapCut changes
Cons
- Several reviewers call it too basic, with one saying YouTube covers the same ground for free
- Shortcuts and on-screen clicks move fast, and audio volume dips in places
- Some students report playback errors, and an Android step differs from the demo
What students say
Colleen CarpenterI'm brand new to CapCut so I enjoyed the easy-to-follow pacing and delivery of the content. There were some sections where the audio volume seemed to drop, but other than that it was a great introductory course. Thanks so much!
Kiss Marianna EszterThe course is easy to follow, has a good structure, teaches most functions of Capcut and brings you to a level where you can discover further possibilities on your own. And all this at an affordable price. I liked. +++++++++++++++

7. The Complete Final Cut Pro X Course Beginner To Intermediate
Joe Parys’s course is a short first pass at Final Cut Pro for Mac users, including people moving up from iMovie: preferences, the timeline and hotkeys, then music, titles, transitions, LUTs, color grading and speed ramps, about 4.3 hours over 47 lectures with practice clips. It was updated in August 2025 and has about 3,600 reviews at 4.2, the lowest rating on this list. Reviewers find the clips short and easy to follow. Some say it moves fast and skips steps, the lessons wander, and the LUT install method shown no longer works in newer versions.
Pros
- Short clips and plain explanations that first-time editors say are easy to follow
- Covers the practical basics: timeline, hotkeys, music, titles, transitions and LUTs
- Downloadable practice clips and no prior editing knowledge needed
- One reviewer says it let them move off iMovie and finish a first project
Cons
- Some reviewers find the pace fast and say steps are skipped, like starting a project
- Lessons feel loosely ordered, with LUTs covered in one section and revisited later
- The LUT install method shown is outdated, and one reviewer found promised effects no longer free
What students say
EricThis class is phenomenal. I know a lot of the stuff being taught but there are a bunch of little hidden gems I didn't know that are going to make me a wiz with this software. Before this course I was using Final Cut Pro X, but I didn't know how to utilize all it has to offer. This class simplifies everything for you so using the software is less intimidating for a beginner. Way to Go and a Big Thanks.
Michael GreenYes, it is much better than all the other FCPX courses I've bought from Udemy. I'm sure I can pick up something from the other courses that weren't covered here so I feel good about it. This instructor is good. I wish he'd answer his email though. I would love to see a class just like this for Motion 5. I cannot find one anywhere and if I did I'm certain I could not find one by any instructor better than Joe Parys

Motion graphics and filmmaking
8. Adobe After Effects CC Bootcamp: Beginner to Advanced
Louay Zambarakji’s After Effects course is the most-reviewed After Effects course in our catalogue: about 39,900 reviews at 4.6 and some 200,000 students. It builds from the interface through animation basics, shapes and type, track mattes, parenting, 3D cameras and lights and expressions to motion tracking, keying, rotoscoping and color correction, in about 34 hours over 429 lectures. It was refreshed in May 2026, with project files for several After Effects versions. Reviewers say it explains when and why to use a technique. It is a long commitment, and a few project files do not match the videos.
Pros
- Clear, patient explanations that cover when and why to use a technique, not just where the button is
- 429 lectures across 40 sections, from interface basics to motion tracking, keying and rotoscoping
- Refreshed May 2026, with project files for After Effects CC 2019, 2020, 2024 and 2025
- After the first six sections the course is modular, so students can pick the topics they need
Cons
- 34 hours is a real commitment; a three star reviewer said it took forever to finish
- A few project files don’t match the videos, such as the missing airplane file in the motion path section
- Only two quizzes and no assignments, and some auto-translated captions read poorly
What students say
PV Harsha VardhanHonestly, I started learning After Effects without knowing any tools. Now, at about 50% of my learning journey, I’m confidently using the tools I’ve learned so far. Huge thanks to Lucas Sir your teaching style is amazing and makes learning AE much easier and enjoyable. Grateful for the guidance!
Yakub Ayoola AbdulmajeedI have always wanted to learn animation, but I kept moving from one software to another. Now, I feel like I have finally reached the end of that search, no more switching around. This course is very detailed, and it has given me the motivation to keep going until the end. I feel really lucky that I did not miss this opportunity.

9. Complete Filmmaker Guide: Become an Incredible Video Creator
Julian Melanson’s course covers the shoot as well as the edit: planning, camera settings, lighting, sound, framing and editing, for beginner to intermediate YouTubers and other creators, in about 12.8 hours over 188 lectures. The longest practical part is a 27-lecture edit walkthrough of about 2.4 hours. It has about 5,600 reviews at 4.6. Reviewers say it helps self-taught creators put names to what they already do. It was last updated in June 2023, the camera, lighting and sound sections are short, and some reviewers call it padded.
Pros
- Clear, easy-to-follow teaching that helps self-taught creators fill gaps
- A 27-lecture practical edit walkthrough, about 2.4 hours, that reviewers found useful
- Covers planning, camera settings, lighting, sound, framing and editing in 188 lectures
- Rated 4.6 across 5,586 reviews, with most of them four or five stars
Cons
- Udemy’s last update date is June 2023, so gear and software advice may feel dated
- Some reviewers call it basic, padded, and heavy on talking and theory
- One reviewer found the personal development opener long, and there are no quizzes or assignments
What students say
Ivony ArmelBeing a self-taught content creator, it can be- a lot of times- like building a house without a foundation. This course allowed be the ability to review or put names to things I was already doing and fill in the gaps of what knowledge I was missing. I look forward to being able to apply this new knowledge in a much more solid way going forth.
Lorraine BoschAlthough it seemed to go on forever, and took me a while to finish, I found the information easy to apply to my own videography and have already used what I have learned. The only aspect I would have loved more information on is fps - the when and why. Thank you for being so thorough. I will definitely re-watch as and when I need the specific aspects. Way too much to remember everything.
