DaVinci Resolve: Learn Video Editing, Color Correction, Color Grading, Visual Effects in DaVinci Resolve latest versions

Our take
Based on the ratings of 15,300 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in September 2026. No course pays to be reviewed.
About 17 hours across 264 lectures, this one covers all of Resolve's pages: Cut, Edit, Fusion, Color, Fairlight and Deliver, plus a short section on vertical video for Shorts and Reels. The syllabus shows editing takes nearly half the run time and color about a quarter, while Fusion and Fairlight are covered more briefly. Louay Zambarakji refreshed it for the current version in September 2026, so the interface should match what is on screen. It is aimed at people who have never opened Resolve and want one structured path instead of scattered YouTube tutorials.
Reviewers praise the short lessons, most a few minutes long, and say the course doubles as a reference to come back to. One reviewer who had used other editors says the tempo is quick without over-explaining, and another mentions the included exercise footage as useful for practice. The complaints are consistent. Low-star reviews say the practice clips are dull and too weak for a portfolio, that the course teaches what each tool does but rarely why or when to use it, and that a recent reshuffle of lecture numbers left one student unable to find where he had stopped. One or two find the accent hard going.
With about 92,000 students, a 4.6 rating and a Bestseller badge, it is the obvious pick if you want the free software instead of Premiere. The Resolve 18 guide beside it suits people switching from another editor who only need the basics. This one earns its place for anyone starting from zero who wants editing, color and audio in one paid course. Expect to bring your own footage once the fundamentals click.
Pros
- Lessons run a few minutes each, so reviewers use the course as a reference manual afterward
- Covers Cut, Edit, Fusion, Color and Fairlight pages, with about a quarter of the run time on color
- Updated in September 2026, with captions in 14 languages and downloadable exercise footage
- One reviewer with editing experience says the tempo is quick with no filler, and the sections build in a logical order
Cons
- Practice clips are repetitive and dull; one reviewer says they are too weak to build portfolio work from
- Explains what each tool does but rarely why or when to use it, so the craft side is thin
- A recent renumbering of lectures broke some students' progress tracking, and a few find the accent hard
Because most lessons are short (a few minutes long), you can also use it as a manual to come back whenever you need to relearn how to do a specific set.
Listed as all levels, but it's built for people who have never opened Resolve; experienced editors will skip much of the first half.

Overall the course is pretty much exactly what I was looking for... DaVinci Resolve can look intimidating when you don't know what all the different pages do. Louay does a good job of providing an overview of how to use these pages, and the most common use cases for each of them. This includes an overview of the fairlight audio and the fusion motion graphics systems. He also goes into quite some detail for the color correction and grading. If you have not used DaVinci Resolve but want to become proficient in video editing, this is a good option to get the basics under your belt and gain comfort using the system (yes, you will need to follow along and do the work to get the most out of the course). It took about a week for me to get through the material... A few notes about some of the other review comments. When I took it, a good half was still in DaVinci 19 (or perhaps older even?), but I didn't have any major issues using DaVinci 21 - the changes were only minor. Is the instructor hard to understand? No, I don't think so... at times he talks fast, sometimes his explanations were not as detailed (on occasion I would just google/AI for some more information), and perhaps some of the technical parts he glossed over once or twice, but I think that's forgivable on occasion. In some areas I was a bit concerned regarding the instructors knowledge (e.g., some parts he was just changing things and guessing), while others it was clear that he does know a lot and has some tricks to share - picking up some of these little tricks along the way is invaluable, and is a much bigger positive than the minor negatives, which is why I still give 5 stars here (also, Udemy rating system is ... not the best). Regarding content being moved around - yes it is clear that some of it is older material, and there were a few repeats of material, which again is okay to reinforce... I think the order was okay. For me since I make notes on each section, I do have ... 264 titles for the videos I had to type out for sometimes 1 or 2 minutes of video. I think that perhaps some of these could have been combined but the short clips do make it easy to digest little parts. It is a pity he didn't get a chance to cover the photos page since this is likely something that would be useful for my first project, but it only came out recently, so difficult to fault for new features. For the audio I would have liked a bit more information on how to work on clips specifically for things like panning, etc. which I would want to do dynamically, but I think I can probably figure it out from where I am now... so I'm where I need to be. Thanks for a great course, Chris B.

Originally, I was self-taught through YouTube clips. However, this course is incredibly thorough, giving you many different ways to achieve your editing goals with finesse. It has really expanded my understanding and given me a much greater appreciation for what is possible with video editing.
By Theo Zanin on 8/5/2026
Thank you Lucas for the course! This is a fantastic deep-dive into DaVinci Resolve's tools, features, and what everything does. If you need to learn editing and you're considering DaVinci resolve, I cannot recommend this course enough. Because most lessons are short (a few minutes long), you can also use it as a manual to come back whenever you need to relearn how to do a specific set. Overall, this has helped me learn editing, which I needed to do; learning colour grading and how to mess with the audio were skills I didn't know I need, but will use throughout my projects. Also, because everything is covered, Lucas also gives you different ways to produce the same result, it all depends on whatever you feel most comfortable working; it's all very intuitive. Overall, I'm very happy with this course and with what I learned. Lucas is very charismatic and your lessons will be fun if this is something you'd like to learn. Highly recommended!
By Sheikh Mohammed Fouzan on 7/27/2026
Overall a good course , but you didn't include much about fusion . which was very much needed to me , i would highly suggest you to do more videos on it and walkthrough more examples like map animation or those we see in documentary videos. if above suggestion is taken ,i would surely rate the course 5/5 stars! Thank you.
By Maria Hatchiti on 7/15/2026
Excellent course. Very practical, well structured, and easy to follow. I was able to apply what I learned immediately in my own editing projects. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to learn DaVinci Resolve properly. And by the way I am so proud I get my certificate.
By Peter Hellstrand on 7/11/2026
Louay really manage to make a course that is 100% compatible to my capability to learning things. I followed a couple DaVinci trainings in the past, but none of them has been so fruitful for my skills as this course. Now I feel ready to go further and learn all the segments of DaVinci more deeply. So, thanks a lot Louay for this fantastic experience.
By Sina Papenfuß on 5/26/2026
This is a very practical guide to DaVinci Resolve, Louay did a great job with these videos, they keep you motivated and his explanations are easy to follow (even for a beginner like me)! I appreciated the materials he provided for practice and all of the advice he shared. I would love to see the photo page (which apparently is relatively new at this point) featured in future Videos. Thanks for this awesome guide!
By Narasingh Mishra on 4/21/2026
This is a very good tutorial that covers most topics and chapters in detail with clear explanations. It really helped me understand how to work with DaVinci Resolve and improve my video editing skills. The course is well-structured, easy to follow, and practical for beginners as well as intermediate learners. I especially liked how the concepts were explained step by step, making it easier to apply them while editing real projects.
By youssef reda on 3/24/2026
The course is good to teach you the tool, but not the art itself. The instructor is just explaining the tools and how to use them. but he doesn't tell you why and when to use it. This is a big problem for me. to make this course great the instructor needs to add 1- more professional material since the material provided is so bad and you cannot create something good for your portfolio with it and you cannot even create things with your imagination with it. many times I tried to do something in my mind but the material is so bad and didn't give me the expected results in my mind. 2- give more practical projects ( real projects with really good material ) 3- teach the montage techniques that really matters as an example: L and J cuts, this something that the instructor didn't even mention and it's really important to make perfect cuts. I didn't finish the course because I don't want to waste more of my time on it because I know I will just waste it.
By Sabatino Ognibene on 3/11/2026
I did not expect to be comfortable with the fusion, fairlight, and color pages in Davinci Resolve, but after taking this class I am. Lou also is a great teacher. Really amazing. The order he teaches everything in and his style of teaching is perfect. I am recommending this class to anyone who wants to do video editing.
