Sean Daniel

Sean Daniel is a man. A man of simple needs and desires. And the one desire, no, the one NEED, that stands above all is to spread the challenges, joy and intellectual stimulus of music to people of Earth and beyond. Born on the mean streets of upper middle class suburban Chicago, Sean learned the ways of the world through the dizzying heights of success to the lonesome depths of failure and emerged with the promise of a better tomorrow reflecting in his eyes and fiery passion in his belly. He plays and teaches guitar on his YouTube channel where he regularly releases original music and projects to the adulation of legions of fans, who often compare him to Chris Pratt and one time Ryan Reynolds. He’s currently in the market for a nice leather jacket.

-need diagrams for lesson 1 -the stuff they are teaching is really good, but the way they teach it is really hard to follow. lots of slurred words & fat fingers - can't hear/see very well. so 5 stars for the material and ideas presented, only 2-3 stars for presentation. i'm gonna have to go back over some of the lessons several times before i feel comfortable with them. everything after 7:20 on lesson 22 was totally lost on me.

Great easy to digest mastering the fretboard course. Teachers are engaging and funny. They provide a good and useful amount of material for you to practice and improve your skills. I'm very satisfied with this course. I'm giving it 4 stars just because I would have liked for them to provide more material on the last section when they introduce you on how to put it all together. A+

There is an incredible amount of knowledge presented in a meaningful way. This coarse will change the way you look at and approach the guitar. The handouts could be a bit higher quality and more of them. However, that does not take away from the value here. I have been playing guitar for may years and feel this is the best coarse I have taken as of yet.

The requirements section says " try to know the names of the strings", which means the course is for beginners. I'm not a complete beginner ( to explain the level I'm at - I can strum a few songs, and F bar chord is not a problem any longer). Starting from section one this course was more confusing than explaining. Many times they refer to supplemental material which is different from what you see on the video. Arpeggios on the video don't match the what they drawn in the tabs. When you rewind, to make it more clear for yourself, most likely you'll get the part of the video when they are joking ( good jokes by the way). Sean is talking too fast to understand the teaching part. They show everything they do without enough focusing on details neither verbally nor fretboard up close. They give me a feeling like they are in hurry to teach how to navigate the fretboard, but at the same time enough time for jokes. Not my idea of a paid course. Again , the jokes are great, subtle with a touch of class. Udemy is inferior platform to the YouTube, you can't play video in the background, or rewind 10 sec with a double tap, which makes it even harder to catch up with Sean. I think I'll revisit this course after a decade of playing guitar, hopefully then things will fall into place

Good for the money. As someone who has a decent understanding of chords, scales, arpeggios, and notes on the fretboard, I was familiar with a lot of the information presented here. I was looking for a fresh way to piece things together. This series gave me some new insights, solidified what I already know, and gave me some practice goals, all which will help me "master" the fretboard. Great info! However I did not give 5 stars because of the overly forced sophomoric banter between the two presenters. I found it distracting and slightly annoying. A few of the lessons felt like they spent too much time on their improve routine and then raced through the lesson where a more thorough explanation would have been helpful. Also the "supplemental materials" that were touted in the lessons were lackluster if available. They are literally just tabs whipped up on a basic text editor and the charts for the extended chords were missing. Same story with the backing tracks, just a couple of very basic loops. These are nitpicky criticisms, the information is still solid, and the price (which was inexpensive compared to many other guitar lessons out there) was a fair value. I just expected a slightly higher level of effort/professionalism from a course I spent money on.

Thanks guys for a great course. I picked up a lot of things to use in my playing and I'm more confident in choosing what to play while I'm trying to improvise. Each lecture had extra bits of wisdom such Sean explaining how your which fingers you're using will affect your sound or playing an arpeggio stoping in certain spots rather than running down the fretboard. Justin added a great tip with playing an arpeggio shape over a pentatonic rather than climbing up and down the scale shape and also using the Add2 or Add9. And, of course I'm never paying for hot sauce. Thanks!! Suggestions for next steps: I've always like Sean's rhythm playing and extended chords. I'm not sure if there would be enough material but a class on chord construction and rhythm ideas would be good. If I had to have any criticism I would say there needed to be more written materials, and the demo portions of your lectures were a little fast. I'm not sure how to remedy that. You don't want to bog down showing where each finger goes. That would just be painful, but maybe a review video that demonstrated the lecture more slowly as an option or reference would help. More written materials may have helped the balance pacing. Those materials should include the learning objectives and what you should be practicing especially with any backing tracks. Again, I think the course was great. Thank you!!

The banter is entertaining but that doesn't mean the course isn't solid! Sean and Justin lead the near-intermediate guitarist on a comprehensible journey across the fretboard, showing the practical and theoretical connections between diatonic and pentatonic scales, major and minor chords (and 7ths), and arpeggios. The course offers plenty of drills to help you move that knowledge to the fingertips, where it can actually create music on the guitar. Money will spent, and I'm sure I'll be referring back to this course in the future.

Course is great. Great banter between the instructors. Keeps the learning fun and makes me want to return for each video. This is a great way to learn the fretboard. At first, there were some issues with the compatibility of the diagrams but, all has been fixed. Honestly, this course is a great deal!! A small fee with this info at your fingertips for a lifetime.

This course really opened my eyes to the guitar. How it's played, what makes it an amazing tool for creativity, and how I can get to where I want to be with it. I am truly, mastering the fretboard. Sean and Justin are excellent teachers and will keep your attention. (Entertaining) I had plateaued for over a year, and I am a much better guitar player after only a few days of going through the course. However, I want more.. lol! I'm not sure where to go from here/What is the next level? I encourage you to take the course! Beginner or Intermediate player. Anyone who does not feel like they know the theory behind the fretboard, and how to navigate it without question. Thanks a lot, Sean and Justin!

Was it a good match for me? I'm lucky to be allowed to study at the feet of Fretboard Masters Sean and Justin. They climbed into my head and Kon Mari'd my own shabby fretboard knowledge and brought joy. They have cleared the muddy waters of my mind and soon I shall be the Muddy Waters of my HOA block party with my trusty Telecaster Donna Jean.
