Complete Ukulele Beginner Course (Udemy.com)

De structuur en opbouw zijn erg goed, maar de liedjes om te oefenen zijn....zo suf! Met de akkoorden die je leert kun je veel makkelijke popliedjes gebruiken, die je dan meteen bij het kampvuur zou kunnen spelen. Deze kinderliedjes (met alle respect voor kinderliedjes, maar dit is volgens mij niet de doelgroep hier) wil je hierna nooit meer spelen!

This is a fantastic course! Worth every penny. I truly do not understand any of the ratings given that are below 5 stars. Jakob is patient, clear, thorough, relevant....everything one needs from a teacher, especially when learning a new subject. I always wanted to learn to play the ukulele. I paid for a private course and I was very disappointed about its the lack of structure and progression for a complete beginner. I wish I would have spent that money on this course from the very beginning. Having completed the course I could say, without a doubt, that based on the benefits I derived from it, I would easily pay 10x as much. I have gone from a complete beginner to playing the ukulele (still basic, of course, but still playing, and singing along). I signed up not only for the intermediate ukulele course with Jakob, but also for his guitar class. Jakob, do a class for piano and/or violin, if you play these instruments, too (in fact, I would probably take any course you teach about an instrument). Keep up the great work, Jakob! I deeply admire the quality of your teaching. Thank you!!!

This is a very good course for beginners. Even at school I played the guitar, and then I had to move to a new place of residence, the guitar was smashed on the plane, and upon arrival I bought an ukulele (in case of the next move I will carry it in my hands)))). I didn't know how to play it, and I tried to start it myself many times. And then I found this course. Thank you very much for the detailed explanations, and even for teaching the notes. (I think this is a very important block for self-taught people like me, and I would even buy a whole course on sheet music from Jakob). Jakob explains very well, everything is accessible and understandable. The examples are clear. While I was taking the course, I was able to write my own three songs and express my feelings. Thank you very much, Jakob, I highly recommend this course to everyone.

Lots of technical information and tips to help you play correctly right from the start and sound good. I honestly thought that I would never manage cord changes and then my fingers started doing them on their own without even looking at them, which was amazing!! So the muscle memory exercises work really well. The lessons are short and very easy to follow. The songs sound very melodic when sung with the ukulele, they can't help but make you happy. So much fun! I will be looking at Jakob's intermediate course too. Lots of extra cords given at the end. I agree with another reviewer that a pdf of the extra cords would be great. Thank You for an excellent course.

I think that this course is really good because I was not a complete beginner but not really a intermediate at the ukulele! So at first, I was just reviewing old stuff but then I learned some new stuff like for example new songs! Learned a lot from this course! One thing that could be improved is the number of sections because I feel like there are a lot of sections and that can be overwhelming sometimes! But overall, I learned a lot of things about the ukulele and music in general despite not being a complete beginner!

I got a ukulele for Christmas and started taking the course at the beginning of January. I finished in about a month, watching a few lessons on the weekends and practicing during the week. I can now choose songs/tabs from the internet and play them reasonably well, which I consider a huge success. I have never played a stringed instrument before and wouldn’t consider myself “musical”. I owe a huge part of this success to Jakob. He’s clearly a gifted teacher - knowing how to pace learning and instruction well. It may feel a bit slow at times, but this pace helps you feel in control of the subject. I never felt lost or frustrated. And when I needed to refresh myself on a skill, I could speed up the video as desired. Jakob has also chosen topics well and chosen songs that are easy to play, build skills, and are a mixture of fun to listen to (Midnight Special) and useful (Happy Birthday). I highly recommend this course for beginners and I’ll definitely take another course from Jakob.

I loved how the practices (songs) were separated throughout the course. It wasn't like learning something, practicing it, and then going to the next lesson without practicing the previous ones again. This course was a good start for me:) My only problem was the choice of songs! they are probably good practices for beginners, but I didn't know any of them except "Happy Birthday," of course! :) So, it was hard for me to keep myself motivated to practice them repeatedly.

It was great learning ukulele through this course. It was quite a fascinating journey and I had great fun learning my first musical instrument though short and effective classes making the learning part much easier and faster yet so clear taking me hand on from the start to the end of the course bringing to me the joy of learning to play this cute little instrument. Found it be best suiting for beginners. Thanks to Jacob who has put in great efforts that really helped me. And thanks to the quarantine days. Without these two I never could have been strumming my uke now :) Thank you so much.
