Course Description

Questions that comes to all Developers is whether they are utilising the available Computing resource efficiently?

Course Overview

The course could be divided into five parts.

  • Concurrency Primitives

  • Deep Dive into Concurrency Primitives

  • Concurrency Patterns

  • Context Package

  • Bonus Section - Interfaces

In the course we try to answer these questions.

Concurrency Primitives

  • What are the limitations of Threads?

  • What are advantages of goroutines over OS threads?

  • How do we avoid race condition?

  • How Channels are used to communicate data?

  • How do we implement timeout and non-blocking communication?

  • When do we use mutex and channels?

  • How to synchronise execution of goroutines?

  • How to detect race condition in Go?

Deep Dives into Concurrency Primitives

  • How Go scheduler works?

  • How does context switching works?

  • How channel send and receive works underneath?

Concurrency Patterns

  • How to construct streaming pipelines with Goroutines and Channels?

  • How to Fan-out and Fan-in computationally intensive stages?

  • How do we avoid Goroutine Leaks?

Context Package

  • How we can propagate request scoped data and cancellation signal across API boundaries?

Coding Exercises

  • Each concept is followed by a Coding Exercise.

  • Exercises blueprint are shared on Github.

Sample Applications

We will build

  • Blueprint of web crawler.

  • Image processing pipeline.

  • HTTP Server Timeouts with Context Package.

Bonus Section - Interfaces

  • How to define common behaviour between different objects as abstract type?

  • How Interface provides an abstraction for higher level functions?

The instructor is amazingly knowledgeable about Concurrency is Go. Although the accent of the instructor isn't that clear for a non-native English speaker, you can derive great value from this course once you get past that. He has great exercises to drive home the various concepts discussed in this course. I highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to learn Concurrency in Go.

This is an extremely well laid out course on a relatively challenging concept. While Golang make the use of concurrency a lot easier than other languages, using it correctly isn't always the case. This course does a really good job of explaining how concurrency really works within Golang, including some nice deep dives into the implementations. In addition to that there are a lot of great examples/ use cases that showcase the strengths of concurrency in Go. Once one has a good grasp of the Go programming language and wants to get an even better insight into some of the more advanced features of Go, I would HIGHLY recommend this course. Only downside i can find is this instructor doesn't have anymore courses on Udemy. GREAT COURSE!!!

Deepak's course is amazing. I was able to understand and get started with concurrency in Go. He also replied to my questions. The explanations were short and clear, as well as the examples and exercises. The examples for web crawler and image processing pipeline were very interesting as well. I totally recommend this course. Thank you very much, Deepak!

Great overview and explanation of the concurrency patterns. However, I would have liked to see a complicated implementation with multiple go routines and channels. Something more like a use-case in production. But again, really pleased with the explanations and the many exercises.

The course is enlightening since it contains all the concepts and examples on each one. Every question is being answered very quickly by the instructor and more examples are given when needed. I would prefer though further explanation and more visible representation if possible, since the concepts sometimes are quite difficult and confusing. I undoubtedly suggest to anyone who wants to know all the aspect of concurrency in go to attend this course, and use it as a point of reference in the future.

First good course come across in udemy though i have 40+ courses. Content represented easy to understand and easy to apply practically. Covered hard topics in easy to understand format. Recomended for new commers who is starting with Golang and find hard time to understand the concurrency and it's implementation. I would expect some real usage for the examples like how to set different timeout for different handlers, overall found it worth investing time and efforts for this course.

I really like the contents of this course. The course had a lot of hands on coding exercises which helped me build a better understanding. Special thanks for the bonus "Interface" section and the deep dive videos explaining how go routines work under the hood. Really recommend this course to anyone who's looking to build hands on experience on go's concurrency idioms.

It was a great course. A lot of information about concurrency with theory and examples. For me , I would have wanted to know more about when and why use a goroutine with a channel, or goroutine with a sync.WaitGroup, or goroutines with a channel and sync.WaitGroup. The explanations on some exercises would be great with a little more info about why to use that solution or implementation to understand the context of a problem and how that implementation can solve similar scenarios. Thank you very much, I'm going to repeat the course :)

Great course! Can be little hard at times to understand the instructor, but is manageable at 1.5x the speed. Reading a book about Go, developing a microservice for work and finally watching this course - everything now "just clicks", especially around the concurrency, contexts and timeout handling!

By Tibor Kircsi on 2/26/2021

I'm a little bit disappointed with this course. Firstly, I t is deadly slow. I watched all on speed x1.25. Secondly, 80% of this course is basic level and maybe the other 20% is intermediate level. Most of the examples are form "The Go Programming Language (Addison-Wesley)" and I can buy the kindle version on amazon for $20 with lot more detailed explanations. I recommend this course for someone, who have never read the book above or who have never read the official documentation about Go's concurrency.
