Learn How To Code: Google's Go (golang) Programming Language (Udemy.com)

Good, structured course. Expected it to be a bit more advanced looking at the timing but it surely provides solid language foundation and covers testing / benchmarking / documentation on starting level. What could be improved: some unneeded content and duplicated material could be surely removed. As well as some non-related fragments (thanks to put them at the end). People pay with the time and money to get skill, sorry. Overall impression - surely recommend this course, probably on x1.25 for experienced software developers. And I do recommend to do every single hands-on exercise and try things in parallel with the lectures - helps a lot.

There is awful lot wrong about this course, especially considering such an experienced lecturer. Content is presented without wider programming or language context, lots of go's peculiarities are not explained, at best just shown. Just dry facts, and not all of them that would seem useful. Language is barely described, and that is important for go, as it's a very opinionated one. "Ease of programming" is much, much too little. Presentation is bad, with language mannerisms, private musings and at times the presenter is visibly not prepared. Lots of chaos here. Even simple explanations of on screen code can be totally unclear to not advanced people due to a lot of hopping around and jerky narration. I would expect so much more from a seasoned teacher. Go find another go course, really.

Este curso se me fue recomendado por la empresa donde trabajo para comenzar a trabajar en IT. Tenía previa experiencia con Python y C++, pero para proyectos personales, nada digamos 'serio'. También para hacer códigos en Arduino y microcontroladores en general. Realmente Go es un lenguaje bastante interesante y recomendado para aprender. Me parece extraordinariamente rápido y pese a ser tipado como C++ es indudablemente mucho más sencillo. Algo que agradezco es la carencia de los OOP o POO según el idioma. Y como no mencionar la concurrencia! En el curso se me ha quedado grabado en la mente como si fuera láser! Es impresionante como Todd te "castiga" por aprenderlo hasta el extremo que vas a ver concurrencia hasta en la cola de la compra hahahaha. Por cierto muy buenos recursos, está genial, lo que si es cierto es que con Udemy es 20% vídeos y copiar código, el 80% restante lo pones tú y eso es importante. Yo he escrito cada cosa que he ido nueva aprendiendo en cuanto estructura de código se refiere y todo lo relacionado con GitHub, escribirlo en texto y en código me ha hecho tener que revisarlo 2 o hasta 3 veces y ha sido muy cuesta arriba al principio. Al final de la lección con los últimos casos me he empezado a sentir algo ansioso por terminar, pero he de reconocer que al final me siento capaz y preparado para afrontarme al entorno laboral, siempre y claro, hayas estado revisando todo lo extra y hayas estado viendo códigos digamos de producción que no son por cierto pero que nada sencillo si partes tan sólo de la base. Aunque esa es la idea, no se "nace sabiendo". Lo recomiendo mucho, Todd es un gran profesor y persona, me gusta que no sea tan rígido y que este constantemente llenándote la cabeza y el corazón de buenas prácticas. Gracias Todd! Eres genial! Excellent presentation, funny and intelligent tutor, makes learning so much easier and enjoyable. Todd is a brilliant teacher and also gives of himself, mixing in his real world life and coding experiences. Not only do you learn coding, you learn how to be a better person! Bonus!! Highest recommendation for this course.

I feel the presenter talks for beginner level. Even though I know the basics, like the bash commands, it is nice and captivating to watch the explanations. Tho go course is interesting and from my point of view I also like the side stories as they create a bond between Todd and the students.

Todd is a great teacher in my opinion, keeping the interest high throughout all the videos. The only 'programming' experience I had was in Python in which I consider myself intermediate. This course set the base on my path to get my hands dirty with a real programming language. Thank you Todd for your time and investment in creating this ideal learning path! Great, in depth teaching style, covering the basics to advanced concepts while he learns along the Way, easily admitting his own mistakes and or not knowing some aspect. He then completely researches any missing concepts to a professional level and re-does the lesson to make it more clear and concise. This guy is awesome, he gets me. Just finished the final video and he had me laughing out loud as it ended. Todd is very humble and understanding. You can tell he knows the best strategy to teach Go the very best way. His humanity really shines through and it was very natural to learn the fundamentals - going so far as to make the complicated sections understandable, often breaking them into smaller videos to hone in on the point. A+, highly recommended.

This is actually my favorite course out of all the Udemy classes I have paid for. For the past year, I listen to this course every morning as I travel to work and I am still able to apply many of the course topics in my current job. This is also a great general introduction to programming and includes in depth information about fundamentals, binary numbers, UTF etc.
