Course Description

What students are saying about this course:

“Great course for expanding your expertise in After Effects. Many great workflow tips.” - David Erickson, student

“Relaxed person to person way of explaining, so you understand it deeply..” - Peter Jensen, student

“I learn a lot by watching the instructor thought processes while she builds out the project. She not only shows what she is doing, she shows why she is doing something. Nice.” - Ira Camp, student

“Excellent, step by step but not tedious. And I learning to a point that I don't have to constantly go back and refernce.” - Kenneth Vanwright, student

“Awesome stuff.....best money I have spent here on Udemy. I am really learning so much about after effects through the project...and the repetition on the same hotkey behavior has helped me learn immensely. As someone that is learning animation I have learned more from this project based course than I have in many larger "all inclusive courses"...I will be taking every other course she offers.” -  Jeremy Hazel, student

“This is awesome training!!!” - Daniel Martinez, student

“Clear and detailed explanation, many tricks and trips, I can't really imagine number of animation can I do by following this method, make me feel that I am designing like professional , or maybe I am already professional after this course. Very recommend” - Ahmed S Safwat, student

“High quality course offering many well explained tips and tricks applicable to Interface motion graphic animation and beyond! Recommended!” - Amanda Jessup

"The course is very good and easy to understand. Thank" - Kanawat, student

I remember when I wanted to create HUD graphics. I was lost. How do they get that kind of detail, those glows, how did they set up their shots?

After many years on the job, I learned some effective workflow tips to help me create this HUD animation relatively quickly, and now you can too. I’ll be covering a lot of important workflow concepts as well as tricks so that you can create this animation.

We'll start with a Thumbnail sketch and bring it into Illustrator to create our assets.  Then we'll bring them into After Effects.

We'll take our Illustrator file into After Effects and convert the layers to 3D layers and animate them using shape layers.  We'll comp these assets and create the text in After Effects.  We'll apply effects and filters to create the final look.

At the end of the course, you'll have built up a library of assets that you can re-use in addition to creating this animation.

Also, throughout the course I will be supplying my working project files so that you can use them as a downloadable resource.

I want you to succeed. If you have any questions reach out to me in the Q&A section of the course. I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Beautiful result. Instructor has a very loose style and organic approach to the process. Dialogue tended to drift when she was absorbed the design, but it was also interesting to hear her vocalize her thoughts. Overall I enjoyed the course and would recommend it to anyone interested in this type of design

One of my favourite tutorials (it didnt start that way), Patients is the key, do not try to work parallel with tutor first viewing. Tutor branches off occasionally to demonstrate other possibilities that would be very useful when exploring other ideas. Loads of keyboard short-cut explanations and examples that will speed up your work flow. Really took my understanding to another level.

The end result was pretty much what I expected but the way the instructor got there was very long winded and a lot of the Illustrator work could have been done in AE without that intermediate stage. Also, the delivery is very slow and I struggled to maintain concentration for stretches. That said, if you've little-to-no experience of AE and want to learn a way of creating these kind of effects then it's a decent course and it'll give you what you need to get there.

I have very little experience with After Effects, probably enough to be slightly dangerous as some may say. This course though has boosted, not only my skill set but my confidence with AE. The idea of designing the HUD was not one that jumped out at me initially but the concepts behind using Illustrator and After Effects together to make a design and animate it has been absolutely fantastic. Love this course and would recommend it to anyone wishing to learn how to combine the two pieces of software.

I have never used Illustrator before and its great to learn a new tool. This is a really advanced course and my skills would have to come up a long way to be able to do these affects for my self. It is a great insight in to how After Effects can be used and a privilege to look over the shoulder of an experienced user in their creative phase. I am really pleased that I purchased this and will go back to it at a later date as my skills grow. Many thanks. This course has shown me the potential of both Illustrator and After Effects for these type of motion graphics.

The course would greatly benefit from use of a script. There was a lot of mumbling, such as "ummm' and "uhh". Also, the course would have been easier to follow by using prompts or pointers for tool usage. The delivery seemed very non-linear. The instructor shows other functions of tools that are not applicable to the project. The chapter on adding text was nearly impossible to follow. Again, a script would have helped here. Demonstrate each step of the process. Follow a script. I felt like I was looking over someone's shoulder watching them build the file, in a very non-instructional format, instead of demonstrating each step in a linear procession.

(EN) The course cover all the stage of the creative process. Introduced me to Illustrator and allow me to understand the basic of After Effect and be able to use it quickly for motion grapic. The project used for the course is cool and appealing. Good teacher, give thorough explanation. Some "y'a know...". Idealy, could be a bite more dynamic in speech. Good course. Bonne formation.

The information in the course is great, the only reason I don't put 5 stars is maybe the instructor could have written/practiced their script a little better before recording. It seems like they know After Effects really well and just decided to record a course while they worked on a project. I am definitely more proficient than I was before I took the class, so overall I'm happy, and would recommend the course

The final output animation taught during this course is great. I really like it. After taking this course you realize that there's so much that goes into making this 5 second animation and those little things make a huge difference. The instructor seems really knowledgeable and experienced. The quality of the final animation is superb. With that said, I didn't give 5 stars for a few reasons. During the course there's seems to be a lot of experimentation and trial and error in building this example and I think it is hard to recreate exact the same example as a student. It makes sense as this is a very artistic and futuristic example and there are a million variations that can be done but still some standard framework would have helped. I think the instructor can be more energetic. The voice sounded a little casual and flat. Also, there are several audio silences during the course. I didn't feel that there was a smooth flow. Also filler words such as "kinda", "like", "sort of" are used a million times, which starts getting a little irritating later. I understand that it is a asset and animations heavy example but the instructor could have used a faster/powerful computer. Later in the course it starts getting slow. Despite the constructive comments above, overall I liked the course a lot. I definitely learned and I loved the HUD style animation. I recommend this course! Thanks.
