Our take
Based on the ratings of 1,179 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in July 2026. No course pays to be reviewed.
Valentin Despa's short course is a hands-on walk through the AI coding editor once called Windsurf, now Devin Desktop. It runs 2.1 hours over 38 lectures. The biggest block, about 53 minutes, builds an app from scratch starting with a written spec. After that come rules and model choice, GitHub MCP workflows, and a quick look at team features. It is aimed at developers, QA engineers, DevOps people and tech leads who want fast orientation, not a deep dive.
Reviewers like the structure. One says it moves from loose vibe coding to a workflow built on specs, todo lists and phased testing. Another says it covers planning through testing, and one thanks Despa by name. A different reviewer says it works for people with little or no coding background. The complaints are about depth. One reviewer calls it a very surface introduction and expected skills creation, and another asked for material on older codebases. One low rating says install help was missing.
The course was last updated in July 2026, but the section titles still say Windsurf, so expect some naming mismatch with the current app. The Teams section is six lectures in five minutes, so treat it as a mention. It is a paid course, but short, and a fair first look at the tool. Anyone already comfortable with it will outgrow it quickly.
Pros
- Builds a full app from a written spec and todo list, so the workflow is shown, not just described
- Covers rules, model choice and memory; one reviewer says specs and todo lists keep the model on track
- GitHub MCP section shows PR and issue automation in a few short lectures
- Short enough to finish in an evening, with 1,179 reviews averaging 4.5 stars
Cons
- One reviewer calls it a surface introduction and wanted deeper topics like skills creation
- Only partly updated for the rebrand, so section titles still say Windsurf
- No quizzes or coding exercises, and the Teams section is just five minutes
It effectively covers the full development lifecycle: planning, system design, implementation, and testing. It also provides great insights into using MCP.
Fine for beginners and non-coders, though it assumes a Windsurf account and a GitHub account, and offers little depth.

Valentin Despa
I teach IT professionals what I wish I'd known earlier.
My foundation is built on years in the trenches as an Agile Enterprise Software Developer, engineering solutions for everything from fast-paced start-ups and SMBs to large global corporations. I hold recognized roles as an AWS Community Builder, Postman Supernova, and GitLab Hero, alongside a deep history of securing and building major open-source projects.
For over a decade, I've taken that real-world experience and quietly built one of the largest learning communities around API tooling, test automation, and DevOps practices. What started as a side YouTube channel turned into hundreds of thousands of learners, conference talks, and team workshops at companies most IT professionals have heard of.
The thread through all of it is the same: take something that looks intimidating and break it down so anyone can understand it in plain language.
Lately, I've been spending more time on practical AI in the workplace. I look at how teams can leverage AI for both everyday knowledge work and hands-on IT engineering, like coding and testing. I focus on cutting through the hype to figure out how AI actually helps IT professionals get work done, build, and ship faster. New formats, same approach.

Amazing course. Learned Lots of useful information here. Can you do a course on how to analyze existing system and apply rules, create knowledge bases and make development 10 times faster for old projects using windsurf.

A good course for a non developer person, it works perfectly if you want to start using Windsurf and dont have a lot of knowledge or none on coding or languages.

A comprehensive guide to the Windsurf ecosystem. It effectively covers the full development lifecycle: planning, system design, implementation, and testing. It also provides great insights into using MCP.

Excellent cours sur Windsurf. J’ai appris plusieurs éléments qui me seront très utiles pour une utilisation plus efficace de Windsurf.

It’s good to know cascade might not produce expected code in the first couple of retries, and we need to keep sending prompts to have it fix issues
By Gheorghi Ostapenco on 9/29/2025
An absolutely brilliant course which allows literally anyone to start creating AI-driven applications. Valentin does a thorough job, explaining all the nuts and bolts of application building. I was particularly interested in topics such as "Writing a specification - Product requirements document (PRD)" and "Creating a TODO list." "Section 3: Controlling Windsurf Behavior" in details describes how you can avoid deviations by providing context and maintaining control. This is a great, compact, yet deep course - I just cannot recommend it enough!
By Nicholas Palubinski on 9/28/2025
Great crash course on making practical, effective use of Windsurf or any AI-centric IDE for developing applications. The practical guidance from how to structure prompts through to working to an overall development framework of specifications > to do > unit testing > deployment was particularly useful. The potential really becomes clear when the course delves into MCPs and how these can be practically utilized to ratchet up your development productivity.
By Martynas Peckus on 9/19/2025
Great course. Topics are very well explained with examples and clear steps on implementation. Coding is not the main event anymore. Building software is the main event. Highly recommend!
