Course Description
Google Grant Ads (also known as Adwords) are one of the absolute best digital promotion channels for charities and non-profits - Google provides a Grant of up to US$10,000 per month, which charities can spend on highly targeted digital ads. If a Google Grant Ad account is set up correctly and maintained well, it can drive highly engaged visitors and donors to your charity's site.
However, many charities struggle to use their Google Grant Adwords Accounts correctly, and Google introduced new compliance rules in 2018 which have led to many charities losing their Grants.
Maximise your Google Grant Adwords account, and learn a time-efficient technique for managing them, through this course from Digital Charity Lab.
In this course, you will learn:
How Google Adwords work, and their power as a digital marketing channel
About the Google Grant and how to apply
How to correctly set up your Grant Adwords account
3 key concepts that will help you understand Google Grant Ads
How to research which of your services and campaigns you can usefully promote through Google Ads, and how to prioritise your campaigns
How to write ad copy that makes searchers want to click
About Google's rules for Grant Adwords accounts, and how to stay compliant with them
How to fix a non-compliant account
How to rescue a Google Grant Adwords account that's not performing
Specific skills and techniques that are crafted for non-profits and your particular business goals and challenges
You will get:
Multiple articles and downloadable guides
A checklist and plan of action for keeping your account performing
A checklist for fixing a non-compliant Google Grant account
Templates for brainstorming Ad campaign ideas, and for creating a campaign plan
This course is suitable for:
Anyone working for a charity who'd like to explore the very effective digital marketing channel that is Google Grant Ads
Anyone who needs to set up a new Google Grant Ads account
Anyone needing to fix an existing Google Grant Ads account that isn't performing, or is not complying with Google's rules

Testimonial
"The clear and easy to follow advice from Digital Charity Lab enabled me to double our click throughs from Google Grants with just a couple of hours work. If you're not following their advice you're almost certainly not getting the best out of your grant."
- Justin Moran, Age Action
NB: this course does not cover Google Adwords Express - my recommendation is that you do not use it as its functions are too limited. See the section on Adwords Express for more information.

Really valuable course outlining how to approach Google Ad Grants effectively and not waste (very limited!) time on things that won't work. Wish I'd done this a couple of years ago! Some of the materials (walk-throughs for example) are out of date so you will need to look up how to navigate the current menus now, but the underlying content is so useful that I'd still recommend this course.

I felt like the instructor moved too quickly. I also found it difficult to see some of screens she showed with the way the training platform is set up (if there's a way to make videos full-screen I haven't found it yet). I also worry that the class is dated. The most recent information is from 2021 and the instructor said that Google frequently changes things. I assume there have been changes in the past 4-5 years. There's a section on COVID19 ad rules. How do I know that what I just learned is still relevant?

The structure of the course was a bit going back and forth. I do appreciate all the added resources and bonus content. While I appreciate Jean's insights and examples, they are in some lectures a little annoying. Perhaps going through the topics first and then adding the examples to the end would help to skip the examples if they are not relevant to the individual. Some lectures, especially in the beginning, seem very rushed and she almost sounds annoyed or frustrated for recording the lesson. This makes for a dry and less enjoyable experience. Jean being British does add to a very easy to verbally understand content and is the reason why I chose this course.

From being handed the charity Google Adwords account and navigating blindly around it for a week, getting nowhere with Google Support, this introduction and walkthrough has been invaluable. The whole portal finally makes sense and have just set up my first campaign to test, along with modifying existing campaigns that didn't seem to be doing anything. Thankyou so much.

Fantastic! I feel like I received all the instruction and resources I need to start creating successful ads for my nonprofit. I have more confidence than ever to bring my ideas and suggestions and to offer my newfound skills to my boss.

Very useful. I have been managing my ads grant account for several years and found this to be a very good refresher. I am definitely completing the course feeling more prepared to continue working on the ads and with more insight i.e. relevancy of website and ads connection should have been obvious but I very much needed that reminder. Thank you. This would be an especially useful course for a newbie.

Excellent course with lots of relevant and helpful guidance on how to use Google Ads for charities in a way that works and minimises time commitment (very important). I was having problems downloading some resources - hopefully, that will soon be fixed.

Very good introduction to Google Ads from a grant holder's perspective. I followed this course whilst setting my charity up with Google Ads and I feel confident with what I've created... Now to monitor how it performs! Jean leads at a good pace and is very generous with advice.

This is a very practical course by someone who has been in your shoes and knows both the NFP sector and her Google Ad Words. It often feels like the instructor is anticipating your next question....and then goes to address it! It comes with a slew of downloadable resources such as really good checklists that you can save or print off for future use. Recommended!

This course was great! I have been struggling to understand an inherited Google Adwords account and this made things so much clearer. I feel like I finally have an in-depth understanding of how it works. Thanks Jean!
