Course Description

Update for course slide ->> All slides of this course has been updated in pdf format in there respective sections.

This course is designed keeping in mind of providing overall understanding of embedded linux. This course does not cover  advanced topic of linux kernel. In this course, you don't really have to buy any embedded hardware or evaluation board. Here first you will learn about linux  basic concepts which will be applicable for all the linux professional. After the linux basic concepts, we will move towards topics especially designed for embedded linux. In embedded linux specific topics, we will cover qemu, toolchain, bootloader, kernel and root filesystem.

Throughout embedded linux specific topics, we will be taking reference of qemu instead of real target board like RPi or beaglebone black for covering the practical examples.

Best part of this course unlike other courses on udemy is that you don't have to buy costly embedded linux capable hardware/board. We will do all the practical examples like running u-boot, kernel, rootfs on Qemu which is a hardware emulator. Once you will be comfortable with concept of embedded linux, then based on your requirement and budget, you can buy  a perfect embedded linux board. In this course, you will get to know how to select best possible board for you.

*** This course is available in both video and slides. Choose anyone or both which work best for you. ***

*** Please note that this embedded linux course will keep updating to improve the course and meet any specific area of interest within the scope of the course based on students feedback and demand. ***

This is a very basic walkthrough of building an embedded Linux system. It does not go in depth into how anything works, but gives a good starting point for getting a deeper understanding of how an embedded Linux system works.

Extension thing is new to me. I was using vmplayer but this one is superb. The tutorial is excellent for professionals and those who are studing . I recommend to watch this tutorial before you try installing virtualbox as this tutorial completes your understanding. I would request author to cover the usb topic in vm as we face difficulty while using in vm.

the instructor almost just read over the slides in the theoretical sessions. in most cases a procedure including installing some tools or setting of some configuration is explained. why should I do that is unfortunately is missed or is not discussed adequately.

Coming from a non-embedded, non-Linux background, this was a good introduction to the main concepts and toolchains. A bit dry and overly powerpoint-led at times but the Qemu-based practical sessions were useful. Thanks Rahul!

Throughout the years I've learned about embedded systems through trial and error and this seems to be a good collection of the tools you need. I also found several areas where I expanded my knowledge base, for example using "ctags". I also like getting a mini introduction in virtualbox.

I found very good content to learn the Embedded platform. 1. Straight to the points. 2. Way of organizing the content of the video. 3. Skill of the tutor is amazing. Looking further for the new things and IoT also.

I just got much more than expected from this course!.. This guy doesn't dig so deep in matter, so you won't get lost. But he goes deep enough that at the end you'll know what your are doing. He describes very well the path you have to follow... Sometimes, I had some problems understanding his accent or some sentences, but first, I don't speak natively english either and second there is a "go back 15 sec" button.. ;-)

Author presents material that is not covered by other instructors, however accent from not being a native English speaker makes is difficult to understand material sometimes. Overall a pleasant experience.

I don't even know how to rate this course really. I would like this review to serve as a constructive feedback and not as a critique. My expectations were higher I must say. I am not saying it's a bad course. but it's not very good either and there's a lot to improve. The intro and the outro get very irritating after a couple videos. I can't think of a target group at which this course is aimed at. It has some beginner things, some middle, and then even some advanced concepts which is a little bit confusing. Another thing that I would like to point out is that most of the things presented are very shallow, without substance and without good explanation. "You take this link, copy it and then do this do that".. And then the English.. It's bad, and I am in no way talking about accent, just the plain English, the vocabulary is very small..The pronunciation was so bad at times that I simply could not understand it.

The overall content was great, have a much clearer understanding of creating and using Embedded Linux systems. Go through it, you will enjoy it.
