This is he best Udemy course I have taken. It is a very good overview. Remember to become good at embedded Linux you have to work at it, but this gives you a launch point in all topics. Now when working with your particular custom situation, you can make educated approaches, if you google you will be able to understand the specific detail responses.

A lot of time spent on looking at online data sheets and board peripherals, which could have summarised into a few minutes.

This is a nice course for embedded linux. But, the teaching assistance gave too many wrong/irrelevant answers.

simply amazing

Kiran is an EXCELLENT instructor. I have purchased several of his courses and been favorably impressed with his presentation, pace, information, material, spoken English, and knowledge. There are many errors in written English material that, using a standard word processor, would make the presentation polished, but I'm not going to dock Kiaran for that. The course assistants are marginally helpful and don't really get to the bottom of the questions, but I suspect they are swamped with requests. Otherwise, I am greatly benefiting from this course.
The key parts of the course, to me, were understanding:
1. How Linux boots on the BBB
2. How to generate the Linux distribution file for SD, eMMC, and remote booting (TFTP, Serial, SD Card, NFS in particular)
2. How to compile all source code (Kernel, First and Second-stage bootloaders,
3. How U-BOOT works and how to compile.
4. The layout of the boot loaders and kernel source
5. Busybox use
6. Application programming.
7. Buildroot use and compiling.
There are so many more aspects of this course that I found useful. The only topic lacking is YOCTO. That is covered by other courses but I suspect Kiran may add that topic.
I highly recommend this course if you are trying to understand Embedded Linux. The content dwarfs many much more expensive equivalents.

It's a great course explaining foundation of embedded Linux with use of BBB board. Additionally some embedded programming cases are covered to show us what we can do next. I really recommend that course for everybody - even with no experience with Linux/Embedded Linux!

The bomb!!! keep it up kiran!!

By David Bartholomew on 9/26/2020

Lots of good information and ideas, but the course material is somewhat out of date. There is somebody supporting the course, but it doesn't appear that anybody is updating the material and the typical support answer is to revert back to an outdated software version in order to make something work.

The couse improved a lot aan thud turned pretty interesting now. Things are nicely explained, step by step. A little depth is missing to some aspects of embedded Linux kernel , uboot, etc.

By Ahmed Faiz on 9/11/2020

Good explanation and step by step showing how the process of boot is executed.

By Manikanta on 9/11/2020

Very good course for beginners on embedded linux. Clear explanation on add on sessions by going the through the data sheets. overall excellent course. thanks to kiran for giving this course. Looking forward for more courses related to advanced topics on linux device drivers.
