Etsy 101: Set Up a Shop and Promote It on Social Media (Udemy.com)

It was not what I expected. This course is less on Etsy and more on the marketing side, how to advertise your new online store. You can tell this course is a little bit old because it talks about old tools and things. But the information, strategies and tips are REALLY good. So in the end, I did not learned so much about how to open my new Etsy store but I learned a lot about how to advertise this new business.

Right to the point. I really enjoyed the walkthrough for Facebook, setting up business profile and do's and don'ts. I'm ready to get my Etsy shop off and running. Going to lock up my names on SM accounts. Topics most valuable: setting up Shop, SEO and KW search, Backlinks, Using Advertising and Marketing within Etsy and Custom Website. Took tons of notes. Awesome teacher! Very very good information to someone with zero knowledge on how the social media marketing works. This course should be called "Social media marketing Course 101", Unfortunately I knew 99% of what he taught. I was hoping for more ETSY related information. Don't get me wrong you need to know all these stuff, even more important than how to open an Etsy shop and how to find a good product, because opening an Etsy shop and having a good product its not the hard part, the hard part is the SEO and Marketing like he teaches on this course. Again, I expected Etsy information because thats what the title says. Otherwise great course.

I would give a 5 star rating for the instructor who is very clear and easy to follow but unfortunately the course content was very disappointing and thus the 3 stars. This course needs to be updated to 2019 in order to remain relevant in all of its content, screen displays and recent changes within search engines, ranking and mobile devices. This is a US centric introduction to Etsy (i.e. shipping module only discusses USPS option) with no consideration to the fact that Etsy (and Udemy) is an international platform. As a Canadian, there was zero value in the processing and shipping of orders content. Google+ no longer exists so should be removed from Social Media list, Instagram also posts to Pinterest yet that is not even mentioned in the list provided under Social Media Management Tools. I was very surprised that there was no content on using the Social Media function directly from our Etsy Shop Manager dashboard. Why so much focus on Facebook pages and not on Etsy's social media offerings if this is an Etsy 101 course? Also surprised that there is not more emphasis on using Instagram particularly for Etsy product listings. This is not a course for someone who is familiar with social media or who has just set up an Etsy shop. I was really hoping to get some tips that I may not have been aware of, having just recently set up my Etsy shop, but did not.

Course was comprehensive and all the topics covered were well explained. The instructor had a great easy going style that made it easy to follow along with the lectures. The course includes a lot printed supplemental information that adds to the subject matter covered in the recorded lectures.

Some of the information was out of date and I had to message the person that made it. He said he was going to update it, which isn't helping me right now as I watch it. I knew most of the information in this course already, but did learn a handful of new ideas. I would recommend this to someone who is thinking of starting an Etsy shop and doesn't have one already. However, I'd wait until the updates are added.

Another good course with some great tips, but not as geared to Etsy specifically enough for my requirements. I was hoping (as the title portrays) to have a much deeper Etsy insight, but to be honest i was left a little disappointed. A lot of the content relates to facebook practices that I already know from the facebook course i took prior to this one. (which is great by the way).

Great and thorough course. The instructor gave a detailed presentation. My impression is that there is a tremendous amount of work to be done for success in internet marketing. Pertaining to this Etsy course, one has to have great listings, attractive store title etc. That's a good bit of work by itself but to get sales on an ecommerce site, a lot of social media marketing is required. The latter seems like a full time job by itself. My concern is how do I not get overwhelmed by the multiple tasks needed to be successful in internet marketing?

I've always been interested in selling on Etsy and I even had an Etsy store at one time. I wish I had watched this course before I decided to close my Etsy store. With this new knowledge I believe I can have much greater success when I open my new Etsy store. Thanks. I highly recommend this course to anyone interested in selling via Etsy.

There’s a wealth of information covered in this Etsy course about building a store and selling products on Etsy. Since I’m in the process of opening a store on Etsy so it was a no brainer to sign up for this. I loved the depth of information that I was given about building a successful Etsy business and would have been happy if that’s all I got but there was also a social marketing training included here which took my learning experience over the top. Well done and well deserved 5 star rating!
