Film, TV, & Video Game Music Composition + Production Basics (Udemy.com)

I myself are a pro musician, I play classical and electric guitar and keyboards. I always wanted to be a media composer, but did not pursue this path fully. Music is an ultra vast subject and there's too many things to learn. In the end, I decide for a full 5 stars for this course. Some videos are more superficial, such as how to use compression, but some are really in depth and interesting, especially the live composing video. The course is worth the money for that section only, but you get a lot more. There's a mountain of info here, 83 hours of it! this is a monster course, so it must be considered a bargain. ----- however in the end I leave a lower rating because the tutor did not reply to a question, should he do at some point, I'll reconsider

I have some experience producing music so my goal with this course was simply to put a name to aspects of the industry I wasn't aware of and to that end I found it successful. However, this is a very basic course with quite little content addressing the "hows" and "whys" of production. The instructor does a great job of breaking down his own work and showing you what he did, but there is virtually no information on his process or reasoning behind the decisions. The layout is additionally a bit awkward and I found myself wishing there was more content for sections 3-6 and less showing off flashy expensive plugins (although suppling the list of plugins and briefly showcasing them is still welcome just to know what to look for).

I found the tips on music theory and orchestration pretty useful, but there's a few things that could be improved. First, the video quality, if you're recording your DAW screen you'll need at least 1080p quality, otherwise everything will be blurry. Then in terms of mixing and mastering, the teacher could try to improve a little bit in my opinion, the information was really basic, I didn't learn anything new in that section, and I felt difficulty from the teacher to explain certain things, probably due to lack of knowledge. The rest was pretty good though.

Thank you very much for this very comprehensive course Steven.. Honestly, I didn't enjoy the whole package from A to Z but definitely I learned a lot. Making this 2020 version of that course to enrich it is a great idea, I liked the additional parts (mostly from YouTube) and 13th and 14th sections are adding a lot of things to the picture. That massive orchestral template with Vienna Ensemble Pro was too much for me :) But I liked it as well. By the way, the lectures 66 and 70 are the same video. Probably there is a mistake here, could you pls check it? Cheers, Guven

I learned a loooooot, although there are some sections that i think it was recorded in a too fast-paced fashion and that i'll have to revise them and even supplement with other courses there are still other points that Steven nailed and helped me a lot. This course is a total go-for-it to get a holistic, birds eye view of what it takes and what is necessary to do in general to be a successful music producer. Keep it up Steven!

It is kinda nice to see what is out there, but since I am just starting out, I have no idea how to evaluate all these resources which is why I cannot really use this information that much. I think a more basic and reduced introduction at the start with more information introduced later when the course tackles the respective topics would enable me to take more away from this information.
