Course Description

Taking you from nothing to your first export in no time, this course is going to let you edit your videos better and more quickly with Final Cut Pro X.

Final Cut Pro X is one of the best video editing software options currently available, but using it for the first time can be daunting. That's why we made Final Cut Pro X 101. Whether you're coming from iMovie or haven't edited videos before, this free course will help you get started with FCPX.

Without going over your head, we'll take you through editing a video from start to finish.

In the five videos you'll get an overview of the software, learn how to import footage, create a project & timeline, quickly edit a first draft, create titles and lower thirds, color correct and grade the footage, and properly export the video.

Exactly what I needed and FREE!. Very concise 101 video on Final Cut Pro X. No fluff, right to it. I started a different course that was too in-depth for me as a beginner so this was very nicely done. If you've NEVER used Final Cut Pro X, start here.

Fantastic! I'm new to Final Cut Pro X - like zero knowledge of anything about video editing. This was simple and easy to understand (practically no video editing jargon. The other courses, I'm looking up defintions half the time, it's confusing).

I had used FCP 7 'in the day'. My work situation changed and spent lots of time with Camtasia. I was concerned I would be lost with the new FCP X interface/timeline, but it couldn't be simpler. Of course the devil is in the fill project details, but Caleb very succinctly covered it all. I did a quick project and it was very easy. So nice to be back! I would like to have had one more section about what to do with your project when its edited (i.e., output) Caleb mentions the 'share' function but doesn't show it. I find the options for Apple devices not too useful as, for example, my project was for the banner of a website and, so, not a device. Because I am an experienced editor, I knew I wanted to take the .mov file and make it an .mp4 file. I also used Handbrake (free and competent) but maybe someone else might want to use (purchase) Compressor; or send to another system (via XML). It wouldn't have to go into too much depth, but surely the social web options would be of interest to course-takers. Just a suggestion to improve an already really good course. Thanks.

I really like Caleb as an instructor and have enjoyed many of his tutorial via Udemy or Youtube but this was very basic and I mean very basic training that I would and will let my 6 and 10 year old view as they are learning… Sound and fundemental but no practical lesson to follow along and participate with lesson leave it little to be desired

This is a competent introduction to some basic features of FCPX. It shows you some useful skills and you get to decide if you want to take a paid course from this instructor. It does exactly what a free course should do and offers a quick overview of the software without excessive detail.

Have only watched the first video lesson so far. It seems to be well designed/produced, however in my case it must be a little dated as the look of my version of Final Cut Pro X (10.4.3) is a little different. It still provided a good overview, but I had to go looking for some items while others seem to be missing altogether in my version.

This course is wonderful. It’s lessons: are taught in a simple, easy, straightforward, step-by-step, direct, demonstrative, user friendly manner; are user friendly. These lessons a kid/adult could follow and learn. The software Final Cut Pro 10X is user friendly.

I'm already familiar with FCPX, but want to master it. So far the teacher has been great at explaining the all the details of the tools and screen layout! I look forward to hearing the rest! And now that I've finished, thank you, Caleb! You taught me a lot re color correcting! All the best!

I already knew final cut pretty well but I still learned a few things. The only thing I'd recommend is talking more about the Blade feature and using keyboard shortcuts to quickly make timeline edits. That's by far the most useful tool and it should be the go-to for editing clips. Other than that, great 101 course.
