Chris Martin

Born, raised, and currently living in beautiful east Tennessee, I am a husband, father, son, educator, coach, personal trainer, and fitness junkie. I received my BS in physical education in 2007 and my master's in educational leadership in 2015.

While most of my time and energy is spent trying to motivate high school students to live healthier lives, I enjoy helping anyone understand exercise and reach their goals, regardless of their age or health status. It's extremely important to have an understanding for how the body is formed and how to get the most of it through exercise and nutrition. Through my accredited sources, I have attained this knowledge and now I'm ready to share it with you!

I completed my undergraduate degree in 2007 at Carson-Newman University. I began teaching high school physical education and wellness in 2008. I currently hold the position of department head in our physical education department. In 2013, I became a certified personal trainer through International Sport Science Association. While I haven't spent a lot time training clients, I have been able to practice what I've learned with my students and athletes. In 2015 I received my master's in Educational Leadership from Union College.

I'm excited to teach what I've learned, so if there's a course that you are interested in, don't hesitate to enroll and get started.

First of all, I'd like to say this course was informational. As someone who had 0 knowledge about anatomy and physiology now has experience in knowing what all happens in our body. This course didn't sway away into different topics, it stayed exactly on point with the whole idea of fitness. However would appreciate it if the instructor could make it a little bit more interesting, at some points it was monotonous and was simply reading it off of the slides. Apart from that, the course was highly enjoyable.

it will be better if each video document could available..

I thought it was a very good course with detailed content divided clearly into 3 units. It covered the areas I was expecting. I would certainly suggest making notes as you go along to keep the brain focused! Some of the detail was too much for my purposes, however, it is up to you as to what you take to retain and remember. I would like to have had some connection with the deliverer, ie part of it delivered as him talking face to face, as I think this would have added more interest and helped with the focus. The summary at the end of each unit and the quizzes were an excellent way of testing your own knowledge and recognising what I had learned and retained.

course was good .i was expecting the physiology of few exercises as well. also i recommend to give some self assignments to do while lerning medical terms for better lerning. may be few questions on terminologies after lerning in detail or part by part questions.

This is not what I expected. I am a visual learner and was hoping that there were more charts, diagrams, etc. The audio of this course was not coming out well on my computer. That may be an issue as well?

By Shira Weiss on 1/8/2019

Yes, I need a bit more though as I am trying to becoming a personal trainer.

By Christian Lorentzen on 11/9/2018

I am a career changer and decided to pursue a career in fitness. I got intimidated by the costs and length of going back to school right now. So this is a great way to show myself that yes I am interested and start getting the terminology and concepts I need to get jobs and certifications.

question 2 from section 3 is wrong - you ask what tendons do and the correct answer is it attaches muscles-bones but they say the correct answer is bone-bone
