Course Description
We all want to become better software developers and be able to call ourselves "Software Engineers" or "Software Architects", but to do that you first have to master a number of design patterns.
This course will put you on a track to that destination.
We will teach you how to recognize when to use specific design patterns to build complex systems in a divide-and-conquer manner so that complexity is reduced and abstracted.
But rather than learning all the design patterns out there, we have curated the most important, the top fundamental GoF Design Patterns for you.
All of that in the context of the Flutter Framework using Dart.
We start with full understanding of the S.O.L.I.D Design Principles and how they in turn relate to those design patterns. We eplain everything in the context of real-wprld problems as well as specific code examples.
At the end of the course you will get to Architect a solution by coding John Conway's Game of Life simulation which will run on your mobile device.
Complex software systems are plagued with three major issues:
Timelines are stretched as requirements change.
Multiple developers have a hard time coordinating their efforts.
Code redundancy.
This in turn creates issues with maintenance and overall flexibility for adding new features. In general this means poorly designed systems that are hard to maintain and are not adaptable.
One answer to all the above problems is having a proper design and architecture. Think of a skyscraper being built. There is always a high-level blueprint. This blueprint is used to show everybody involved (from architects to supply chain to construction workers to machinery scheduling etc…) what is being worked on.
Everybody understands and follows the same vision.
A blueprint has a number of commonly understood elements which repeat themselves across many projects. For example all buildings need electrical wiring and plumbing, they might need elevators, and cooling systems, and underground parking lots, and of course stairs. They also usually are connected to the electrical grid and water supply as well as… roads.
All these common elements follow certain standards that have been improved over many many years and across many many projects. They are well understood and can be used almost like recipes.
In Software Engineering we also have a set of elements that repeat themselves across many projects. For example all software applications need to create objects, they need to communicate state change across those objects, they need to be able traverse over collections of those objects. In other words, if you want to be a better developer then you need to become proficient in those elements that have been time-tested. In the Software Engineering world these elements are known as “Design Patterns”
This course will teach students how to recognize when to use specific design patterns to build complex systems in a divide-and-conquer manner so that complexity is reduced and abstracted.
This will help you to design projects in an Architectural manner before any major development happens and can be used to shorten development time and reduce maintenance costs.
Design patterns are important because they are time-tested recipes or solutions to well-known software engineering problems. When creating software applications certain problems recur in a pretty predictable fashion so rather than ‘reinvent’ the wheel we will have an assortment of, if you will, wheels to choose from.
We will teach you this in a slightly different manner than you probably have been taught before. We will take a practical approach (i.e. specific examples) but the power of Design Patterns comes from their ‘concept’ and we will teach you the concept of those design patterns so that you are fully able to change them and modify them to your needs. In addition we will look at how to combine all those patterns into something greater: an architecture.
A well designed Architecture is this magical thing where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
This is what we will strive to teach you.

The Instructor has put a lot of efforts to make this course and it's completely worth it. You cannot expect design patterns to understand in one sitting, it needs a lot of practice and understanding and decision making. This course is a great head start for everyone who are all scared of AI, thinking that it will take your jobs. This course gives you a superpower that you'll feel like, nobody can replace the developers. Wonderful Course by the way. Awesome Man!

Great course, but a little short. I really appreciate the slide of the corse during the first chapters I would have liked them even later. I also would have like to see all the concepts explained in the corse in a real project like a e-commerce or social network or a streaming platform. If in the future you will apply clean architecture in a real project I will sure buy it

all 7 design patterns for applying to coding covered. of course, you need to have good fundamental knowledge of programming - especially OOP to benefit from the good explanation of Design Patterns and SOLID Principles. Clarity in speech and tone. highly professional speaker with amazing skills. would've loved to have the final project files for all the exercises tho.

Overall, it was a good experience and I learned a few things and new concepts. But, I am a junior developer and all these concepts were a bit overwhelming, especially in the last exercise where you had to use them all together. I found the *Only basic experience is required.* in the requirements and the total of 4 hours a little misleading, because you need more time to comprehend all these. Maybe somebody more experienced would require less studying time.

The course is exactly what I expected, only issue I have in my mind is that the patterns are presented as musts. But there are lots of people they say you should simplify your code, you don't need that much of abstraction, abstractions and inheritance will make your code harder to maintain etc. Also when you think about the small development team of a startup like in my case, you have other prioritizations like creating a working demo instead of creating a highly flexible code that 100 people can work on it. So pushing a purist development culture can create unnecessary burdens for some of the developers. So the course is providing what I expected, I would be happier if I could see a less certain and open language. Also seeing other popular opinions and the comparisons between them would be better.

This is hands down the best Dart/Flutter course in Udemy. Fantastic lectures, loads of explanations, and a huge number of practical tasks. The final practical task is immensely satisfying and really puts your skills to the test. Highly recommended.

Although some of the code I find a bit hard to follow (I'm a beginner in Dart) and record handler's role was not explained in detail, overall, the explanations are extremely clear, and the structure and delivery of this course are first-rate. The concepts are clear but deep, and I can see that I will need to practice these concepts for quite some time until they become second-nature.

Yeah... So I was appalled by the design of the course at the beginning and that was probably because I was having issues with understanding the concept as I'm new to design patterns. However, at this stage, finishing the State design pattern, I have to admit that this is a well structured course with very valuable and apt concepts. I do need to point out my concerns though incase the course designer has it in mind to do something better in the future... Repetition would greatly enhance understanding of students and It would be great if each Design Patterns was touched as a part of a large application system. The course feels too much like I'm in class. I wish I could have been designing things while learning them... Now, I feel I would have to go over the course a second and probably a third time to fully grasp the concepts.

Unnecessary complex code example with too much focus on the theoretical parts. You don't need to mention logger, paint classes and .rtf file when teaching new concepts to the students. just let them focus on the concept rather than consuming their memories with extra classes and files and names. I hope my feedback is helpful.

Very happy to say that it was one of my best experiences learning Design Patterns, or even one of my best experiences with programming courses in general. As long as you are not in a hurry, and that each class is taken calmly, this course really helps a lot to raise your level as a developer.
