I'm Karleen, a composer, musician, teacher, programmer and more. I started playing piano when I was 4 and wrote my first composition when I was 15. I taught myself how to play the electric guitar at 14 and spent all my spare time playing hard rock and heavy metal music. I reverted to classical music in university and studied the classical guitar and Japanese flute.
I've been teaching since 2007, from maths to piano to teaching English in a foreign country.
Composing music is my one true passion and I love teaching people so Udemy is a natural progression for me. I hope to make a change in your life, and bring out the musical side in you.

Great match. However, the instructor's accent causes many strange transcriptions of words, which is not only distracting, but can actually cause confusion. You might want to take a look and clean this up. The Section 4 lecture 25 is particularly bad. So, to be clear, I am not talking about her accent being problematic. I am talking about the transcribed captions being problematic, because the system transcribing her voice is misunderstanding her and creating nonsense for anyone reading the captions.

This did exactly as described. Great unique projects with many helpful tips, tricks, and tools of the trade. My background is in music and not Game development but working with mobile game developers these skills and resources all show the current pulse of game creations. This had some lessons I, with 20+ music theory/ practice/ t teaching, did not need, but still found useful and found very well laid out for new musicians. The lessons with history on chip tunes, FMOD, unity/ adaptive music were critical on how to know, emulate, and create music in this format. I highly recommend this to complete beginners in music, and those interested in learning game composition with music background. Great course.

First of all, thank you so much for making this course! I had a great time working on it, and this being one of the first courses I've taken that forced me to spend a lot of time being creative and building something, I feel quite accomplished having gone through it all. I found changing genres and composing techniques for each section was a very good method of keeping me hooked and I feel quite comfortable with FLStudio and messing around on my keyboard. Cheers!

Truly amazing course! It's perfect both for absolute beginners and pre-intermediate composers. The instructor covers all the basics of working with fl studio, basics of composition, music theory, which are more than enough to compose great music. I knew music theory before I started this course, but the explanations seemed really great to me, things are simple and easy to understand. You'll compose quite a lot of music during the course, which is great. The narrator thoroughly explains everything without leaving you confused, no stuttering or stammering. Now to flaws. Although the instructor is great at arranging, improvising and what she's doing, she isn't the best at writing melodies, which makes her pieces sound a bit lame. Instrumentation makes up for it, but you probably will not hear banging musical pieces during the course. I'm not sure if simplicity of melodies was intentional for ease of understanding, but still I think it's the only drawback that I can remember. Overall It's a really great course and I definitely recommend it!
