Course Description

Learn how to create highly detailed and accurate 3D models with texture by means of Photogrammetry, that is 2D images processed into 3D models.

Create accurate and high resolution models with ease with this course.

  • Create highly detailed and accurate models of real world objects.
  • Save time and effort by this new way of creating 3D-models.
  • Generate high resolution textures for your model.

The benefit of using this method for creating a 3D model is that you will get highly accurate representations of a real world object when it comes to proportions and texture. With the right workflow and pipeline this method can potentially also save you much time in comparison to modelling and texturing manually. Several big production companies use this method for creating their 3D content for these reasons.

After completing this course you will be able to create a 3D model with texture of your own using Agisoft PhotoScan. The same basic principals apply to other photography based photogrammetry software as well.

This course is aimed towards those who have no prior experience working with photogrammetry or Agisoft PhotoScan. At the end of the course we will also briefly look at how you can approach retopologizing/decimating your model to fit your end needs, i.e. creating a version of the models with your desired about of polygons.

The only prerequisite you will need for this course is a fairly capable computer running Windows, MacOS or Linux to participate. Preferably you also own or have access to a digital camera to work with your own unique projects, but you will get access to a few series of photos that you may use for learning purposes. Agisoft PhotoScan is available as a trial and a demo version for those who do not own the software yet or just want to try it out. These versions will work perfectly fine for this course*.

* The demo version cannot export the results and therefor you cannot try out the retopology/decimation parts of this course with it.

Does a good job on explaining how to use the program and export the files for use elsewhere. Good starter but will obviously be a lot of trial and error when it comes time to implement.

Very practical and to the point. Gave me enough to start by myself but will probably complement with another more detailed course before kicking off to steep up learning. My sense is that it has not been updated for 4 years, so probably a bit outdated. But to kick off the tyres in this space, I'd recommend this course.

Really thanks Im so happy with the course im interesting in another course its mi first course in english and i undertand all just i recommend more practice a way to homework but all was great

Very straightforward and practical tools for using Photoscan. It gave me just enough knowledge to begin using the software and running my own tests. I wish it were longer, but that's a testament to how useful this course was to get me started. I would have liked a final section on prepping the assets for game engines but I realize this may be too complicated for a simple walk through. Still, I highly recommend the course for anyone wanting to jump right in and start shooting for photogrammetry.

Despite the experience in using Agisoft Photoscan, the course drew my attention to many important details. Short but containing a wide range of knowledge. I think that extension of section 5, more useful informations about the export of models to other 3D software and their further processing, would be an interesting addition to the classes.

nice pace. when the information comes slowly I tend to lose interest. Your timing is perfect. It helps that I have the same camera and am experienced with its use. thank you

This has been quite informative even if a few points could use more work. Such as, being a bit less vague about which option does what. Also, newest version of PhotoScan have different interfaces, so the course already feels a bit outdated in a few parts. This definitely helped me a lot not only with PhotoScan but also with other photogrammetry free tools. I'd love to hear less "I'm quite new" and "I never tested it", and attend to the next version of the course, maybe a more advanced one. Workflow from the object straight up to importing it into Unity3D would be nice :) Keep up with the good work!

This is a course I enjoyed, but I learn't 99% of this by fumbling around in Photoscan before watching it. He should go more in depth about the actual taking of the photos and the best practices, with an actual live sample of him shooting an object with explanation as to why he is doing it that way e.t.c. other than that it was a good but imo a basic intro to this process. Still enjoyed it regardless and did pick up some stuff on where i was going wrong. So thanks for the course.

Using photoscan was excellent. Really enjoyed learning how to use the software. Speaker was very concise and made a lot of sense and result of that I was able to generate very good midel and really able to take advantage of the software.

By Marc Albrecht on 2/26/2016

Not going into any details of refining use of the software, getting "THE BEST" results, this course still is one of the better basic introductions into using Agisoft's de facto "standard" on photogrammetry.
