GIMP Photo Editing: Free Photo Editor, Photoshop Alternative (Udemy.com)

I recently completed Chris Parker's graphic design course that focused on GIMP, and I must say it was a definite and solid choice for anyone looking to gain a deep understanding of some of the most frequently used tools in GIMP. More importantly, the course provided valuable context for using these tools effectively. One of the standout aspects of the course was its ability to clarify key concepts that I had previously struggled with. For instance, I had never fully grasped the concept of layer masks, but this course solidified my understanding. The course also offered an abundance of tutorials that allowed me to get hands-on experience and practice with various tools. This practical approach was immensely helpful in reinforcing what I learned. As a bonus, the course introduced me to DarkTable, which I was new to. It was enlightening to discover how this tool, when combined with GIMP, can breathe life into raw images. Initially I gave it a 4,5 ⭐but given my growth over the last 2 days I felt compelled to upgrade my review. And so, I wholeheartedly give this course a five-star rating. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It not only improved my proficiency with GIMP but also enriched my graphic design skills. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a way to enhance their design capabilities with without breaking the bank!

Although I have used GIMP on Linux for years, there are still things to learn, that I did not know before. There are some elements which are not explained and are not default settings. For example the coloured sliders on the white balance control in Darktable.

Professional course from beginning to end. Someone who knows completely nothing about photo editing, Mr. Parker is no doubt a professional and a gentleman. This course is the best value from pennies to dollars. For anyone with no experience at all, Mr Parker with all his years and experience is highly recommended. In today's society, we need more mentors and scholars like Mr. Parker. Thank you for taking the time to educate.

This was my first course by Chris. Love his delivery of the lessons. This has helped me make my photos pop so much more. I plan on watching this course, along with three others I completed, over and over. It is a fun program and Chris is wonderful tour guide to understanding GIMP. This course was worth every cent!

Every icon in the tutorial was very well explained and also it would be better if the teacher/instructor would be able to teach it in a more slow and not rush in explain it in the swift method.

Good course, but like most GIMP tutorials it assumes that you're familiar with Photoshop to start with. I found Chris's "catchphrases" repetitive and more and more grating as the course went on. On the plus side, its a pretty comprehensive look at GIMP with plenty of opportunities and examples to work along with.

in this part, more attention was paid to Darktable. I was hoping that everything would be done in Gimp. The material is nicely explained. Although I understood that the author said goodbye to Gimp

Really simply structure with story-board of the tutorials precisely thought out, targeting beginners. At the same time, with some technical knowledge infused to make the course much more insightful, but not too technical.

The selection of capabilities the instructor demonstrated was good, along with his commentary of his own preferences on how to use them. Extremely knowledgeable instructor. It was hard at the start for a complete beginner. Often my screen would not match, sometimes because I had accidentally made a change and did not know how to reverse. I would prefer even more time going over the default layout at the start.

Excellent course! Chris Parker is a fabulous tutor, knows what he's talking about and explains everything in a way that engages beginners and helps them to utilize GIMP's full potential.
