Hello React - React Training for JavaScript Beginners (Udemy.com)

I recently took this course on React and, while it felt helpful at first, I have since found it to be outdated in comparison to other React courses. I would recommend looking into a more up to date course on React rather than this one.

A perfect class for anyone new to react. It covers many important aspects of react and does an excellent job of providing good use cases for common built in javascript functions/helpers that can be used with react. I appreciated the pacing as well, all of the challenges in the course required some critical thinking but I never felt like I was ill equipped to handle them. I was able to figure about 95% of them on my own. Definitely take this course before jumping into more advanced React courses.

That was a great introductory course to React world. I am trying to learn react native but since react js uses same terminology and methodology this was a goot getting started course. My observations: I would prefer a constant use of ES6 from the begging. Secondly I would like to see a form example created by independent form components that interact with each other. Finally from Lifecycle methods only componentDidMount was presented. Maybe tutor could present some more examples on that topic.

If you have no experience with a framework (or in this case a library that can work as a framework) this is the best course I've seen. A lot of other courses either gloss over the basics too fast or they give you every detail about every possible way to do something, which can be very confusing. What this course does is it explains the basics in a way that is easy to understand and will allow you to get a feel for how React works. By the end of the class you will have a general understanding of how to render components and use some ES6 features like map and filter to manipulate data using your components. I recommend taking this class if you are entirely new to frameworks before you try taking any class geared toward more intermediate or advanced level students.

Very nice course, especially for beginers. Slow pace and quite a lot of repetitions in different contexts (which is good) helps to understand everything better and memorize important points. Mybe not quite comprehensive so you need to use also another courses. It would be nice to learn how to use Babel and Webpack, which is recommended for real applications instead of using CDN Anyway the course was very useful for me. Thanks!

This is THE BEST beginner's React course I've ever seen. If you take this course as your first React course, you'll feel that React is SIMPLE and EASY to learn. I got intimidated by all the other courses I've taken. They immediately overwhelmed me with ES6, ES7, ES8 syntax, environment setup, build systems, multiple components interacting with each other and what not. This course is amazing. Simple, practical, it helps building muscle memory which is the KEY in programming (as well as in many other skills), so, you'll REMEMBER everything you already learnt, and you'll become good friends with the material. As a side effect, I actually understood a few JavaScript concepts I was struggling with for years. The instructor has the best teaching skills I've came across in a long time, especially in the field of Web Development. From an instructor I do not expect to show off with all the knowledge they have (like many of them do), but to keep in mind that the goal of the course is to help me understand and practice the material. I would give Six Starts if I could. Thank you!

Overall, I think this course is fantastic. Rob Merrill is an excellent instructor that guides his students with knowledge of each section. With each section, Rob provides a basic in-depth explanation of each subject along with an example of how to apply the knowledge learned. He is also very quick to send replies to questions you may have and makes excellent recommendations for how to further your knowledge in a this particular subject. The one area I would like to see improvement is the React Form Section. I feel that it should include submitting more than one single input. Perhaps using multiple input text fields, radio buttons, and checkboxes to expand upon the power of React Forms. It seems to be a place where a lot of new React Developers struggle. Bottom Line: I think this course is perfect for any person wanting to get into React Development, however, there are courses one should complete first before jumping into React. Having basic HTML, CSS, JavaScript experience is a MUST. Luckily, Rob has an excellent JavaScript course available here on Udemy as well.

This course was exactly what I was hoping it would be, a great learning experience where I would come away having actually learned how to do what they are claiming! I am currently near the end of a techdegree at another online web development learning platform and I have been so overwhelmed. The instructors teach as if we already know what they're teaching, and having no background in javascript, it's been a nightmare! It has taken twice as long because I just didn't get it. I thought something was wrong with me, now I know it's just that they were talking over my head. Rob teaches and then reinforces what he has taught so we can understand and put it to use. I need more courses like this one! Bravo!

I took React classes from other Udemy instructors before, though they taught more advanced concepts at a faster speed, I struggled to understand props, states and how to incorporate them into a basic React app, this course has helped me have a clear understanding of those concepts. I personally this course is highly recommended to anyone who is new to React/JavaScript ES6 and for those who want to grasp the solid basic essence before moving on to more advanced topics.

This is a very introductory course. But if you are new to this, this is where you would start. This instructor makes a great effort to explain the material. I hope he teaches more advanced levels. As I said, I hope this instructor teaches more advanced react courses along with react-native, react-router and redux. I hope he also explains Life Cycle Functions. Other instructors teaching these classes are very knowledgeable in this material but then they type away at 100mph without much explanation.

Great course, and the one that really eased me into learning just how to get stuff done in React without bothering about the whys and wherefores.

Was able to follow this even with only a very cursory grasp of JavaScript, and like that the codebase is all available on GitHub, so that I can clone it and mess about and try to break/fix things and see how everything works.

Great course. Fantastic exercises & coding exercises to make sure you understand what is being talked about. The instructor puts effort towards getting people to use/think through ES6 code styling so they are prepared for what they will experience as part of React. Happy I used this course as my entry into React. I feel very knowledgable, and ready to extend the knowledge to creating something more robust.
