He's just reading from a book....doesn't even sound natural...obviously reading someone else's material. Has a keyboard and guitar and doesn't even show examples...Can he even play? has he written anything or has he just picked up a book from the book store to read verbatum in front of a camera (with lots of edits)...not impressed so far.....Also too technical too many written pages with explaining the chord progressions i.e. Majors minors etc.....I'm this far in and already feeling ripped off !!!!!

Hello every one. I think it is very great course. Because the man have a humor it funny and at the same time he tells us very important things for the structure of music. I searched a lot time answer on the important questions. How have the standards in the process of the songwriting, how cords is using, which cord is finish in verse or chorus. And from this course I received any useful information. I recommended for everyone who finding at the same situation like me. Just by this course. Dear Jag thank you very much for you great course. I never was happy like now. I plan to by one more your course. And will wait new courses. God bless you.

Very detailed about structure of the song, and gives examples of the structure of different song sections. Would love a more detailed analysis of melody.

This course is unpolished. The instructor can come off as a bit too goofy at times for my taste, and the course materials consisted mostly of somewhat disorganized notes interspersed with short overly edited videos. However, the result is a lot of very concise content easily found! I really appreciated the many quick example snippets which were provided. These would have been even better if chord charts with lyrics had been displayed, and if more such snippets had replaced broken links to Youtube content which isn't part of the course. I would point beginners elsewhere for a structured introduction to the craft and process of songwriting, although I think beginners could definitely get something out of this course. The bottom line is that this course is densely packed with many great tips for songwriting. I really liked it.

Good information within the course, so far, although it can be confusing and fairly vague with not enough examples. Production-wise it's a little on the lower-end side. The background of the room in the video is junky and distracting.

This guy is a genius. He is telling me what I need to know and I am so grateful that I found this course and am able to take it. He is above my level, in that I don't hear chords well enough to identify his examples. But he gives examples. I will have to notate his lectures and dig up printed material, hopefully of his examples. I can read music, though slowly. Then perhaps I will understand better. I recommend him to all wannabe composer musicians. Because this is way above my level I will need to review it and pay attention to what I listen to. Thank you. I am going to email FB some friends about the course.

I would like to see the instructor show examples by him playing and explaining different types of chord progressions, cadences, and lyric/chorus structures rathern than do a dry reading. Video parts are very short and lack those examples to show exactly what it is, how it sounds, and how it could be used. If I wanted just to read about everything I would not be taking this course. Somewhat disappointed so far, but I look forward to complete the whole course and adjust my review at the end.

I gave it 5 stars despite the many objections to the quality of the course because I just got here, I found what I was looking for. The structure of a piece of music has been here explained, but it would be better if instead of broken links to the songs on YouTube, were music scoring contains lyrics. It would be better to visually explain the importance -T - T T in chorus. Valuable knowledge but the author of this course needs the help of a professionals who has good knowledge of how to make good tutorials.

I wish the instructor would actually demonstrate many of the interesting concepts he describes during the course, rather than having the student listen to examples on YouTube. The song examples are fine, but they would be better if the student and the instructor listened to the song together, and then the instructor could isolate the example within the song. For instance, the instructor could play the song and then say, "the concept I described is heard here...can you hear it...if not, let me repeat it and focus your attention on it...etc" When you listen to the examples by yourself I think you miss key points.

Pippin Jag is a true musical Jedi Master. He makes stuff that used to be dry, abstract and complicated, suddenly seem fun and intuitive (and "playing" and making music should be fun and intuitive). You do need to know some basic music theory as he assumes some knowledge (like basic knowledge of chords, keys and modes), but it is worth it, as you can easily learn that by yourself (and he shows you how to use it in a practical way). I am a total newbie in songwriting (I can play some piano and some guitar though, but not THAT much), yet as I am progressing through the course (not done yet) everything is so nicely condensed that I feel I am getting a good grip of it very fast.
