This course is helping to give a good impression of the many aspects of film that a director has to look at. One can see that the teacher is really experienced in the field, which is very inspiring. Excerpt of technical details one has to learn, he helps you understand the big picture to move forward with your movie and be realistic about all the aspects of a real production. One can sense some Film-making-wisdom right there! Sometimes I did have to watch the class 3-4 times to catch up with new terms I am not familiar with, but if one is passionate about learning more on the field, this is no obstacle. It is good because it is better to know as much as you can as fast as possible. Film production has so many fields of work and processes... I am very happy and would love to do more courses with this Teacher/ Institution. Thank you!

Since this is a directing masterclass, I was hoping to see more practical applications to operate as a director during pre-production and on set. I felt more like an observer who's watching a seminar. There's a lot of good information about the types of lenses and how to use them effectively to achieve certain shots and feelings, but there is more to directing. And if you have a good DP, you're good. There was very little on how to prepare if you are hired as a director for a feature film.

I can understand why some rate less instead of like me 5 star... this course is not for beginners, its for those who had background in film making. Personally, this course puts a depth in understanding the film making and refine the arts of understanding the film making process. From the importance of camera movements to the camera varied lens usage and the important of storyboarding and more this course takes you to the next level of film making. This course throws a light in understanding the insight of film making in this limited course. The take a way for me in this course is using long lens to accentuate and heighten the drama of a chase scene getting the audience engaged in the actions from the intimate zoom lens shots. Its remarkable course I recommend this course any day. Go for it!

Always done short films but never had formal education. Always wanted to do a film course, but never had time - this was a fantastic insight to the fundamentals. So much I didn't know. Camera movement and lens selection sections explained clearly the mistakes I had always made. Gil is truly a master of the craft.

I expected that the information is more structured. Also the two podcasts at the end were somehow unrelated with what we should learn in this course. If you can attend the course at the discounted price then you should still attend it. As this was my first course about this topic, I can say that I learned something from attending it.

Wow, this course is exactly what I needed and wanted, it's like what I have been looking for. Love it, very logical, real, practical and with examples which I really appreciate. It's not mundane and boring where its just a lecturer talking showing off his knowledge of the industry. But very awesome, can't wait to get through the rest of the course.

The instructor's knowledge is limitless. Love the classic in the classroom feel of the class.
