What they say:

This was by far the best course I have taken! – Joe C.

Better than ever expected. This course has taken me from zero knowledge to understanding how a huge amount of work goes into even one promo shot in a catalog. This course does not hold back or sugarcoat the work behind the great photos or give you constant reassurance - it honestly teaches all areas of the experience from taking better photos for your own benefit through to what the most professional client would require. I'm very grateful for Charlie Borland to be so helpful and present in such a lovely manner it makes the experience very rewarding and easy. -Michelle C.

1. The course contains a lot of tips on photography in general, like setting up your camera, composition, post-processing, lighting. For me, the most interesting videos were the ones showing Charlie dealing with particular scenarios: an alpinist near the rock, a lady in the forest, products inside the studio and many more like these. Charlie's very precise explaining his technique: setting up the lights and other equipment. 2. Though I'm not a pro photographer and I'm not planning to be one in the future, I really enjoyed the parts of this course on how to be one. There're numerous ideas how to make photos not only pretty but also meetings these days photography market's needs. There're videos on how to set up the prices, negotiate with the clients, how to find various ways to live off photography. I'm pretty sure there are not many successful photographers who would be this willing to share their professional understanding of the business. 3. It's Charlie's second course I've just finished and it's another good one. I certainly recommend it.

This course gives a wealth of a lifetime of experience in a very easy understandable well presented format. To attempt to apply this vast knowledge in a short period of time would be overwhelming, I believe that I well be a far better photographer and business person due to the information presented here. Already I've gained incredible knowledge and insight on the topics already covered and look forward to the remainder of the course. This course is reviewing what I've already studied as well as bring out new materials and approaches, enabling me to have a greater understanding of what I've studied before as well as increasing my knowledge greatly

Very thorough, all the information was relevant and covered so much stuff that i had never even considered. The only issue i had was that the course was 90 percent Audio recording and i found myseld getting bored with nothing to look at so i played them while i was driving.

This was more about the business side of Nature Photography. I was really interested in HOW the shots were set up, what exposures were used, what did you do in PS to get the end results. Im looking at doing photography in my retirement to have fun and make a little money so the big business side of this was not important to me at this time. Still, I did learn some useful information that I will take with me. Also, love seeing pictures of areas around Central Oregon as I lived, climbed and skied from Bend for 10 years. Thanks Charlie

Honestly, this is such a great course! I can't believe how comprehensive it is. it covers everything that even on second/ third watch I still find it valuable! The section on composition alone is such gem! In addition, this is the only photography course that covers pricing and negotiations; something self-starter like myself are sure to have trouble with! So I really appreciate this course and will definitely be going back to it on a regular bases throughout my journey as a photographer.

Charlie takes you step by step through what it takes to be a professional outdoor and nature photographer. The course is well thought out and delivered in an easy to understand manner. Charlie is an easy going instructor that provides plenty of personal anecdotes to highlight many of the areas he covers. He makes the course both interesting and fun, and he throws in a few personal challenges in the way of assignments that add to your understanding of the materials presented. Thanks Charlie for a great course. I really hope to meet you someday and personally shake your hand for all the effort you put into this course, and how much it's taught me, but just as importantly made me really question my motives and dedication towards becoming a professional photographer.

In addition to teaching important techniques like using flash lighting outdoors, Mr. Borland shared great insights into the everyday work and business of the professional outdoor photographer. Many of those concepts would be applicable to any specialty. His deep knowledge of the subject is apparent and he delivers it with an engaging style. The only improvement I would like to see to the course is the use of more textual graphics, such as PowerPoint bullets, during the audio lectures.

Charlie Borland has put together a great course on the business & how to's of becoming an outdoor and nature photographer. The course is straight forward with a no nonsense approach to photography and the hands on approach of what to expect and what you will find out in the field. I gave the overall course a rating of 4 out of 5 stars simply because the information is great and Mr. Borland is a great teacher but I didn't rate the course a 5 really because of one lil error I found in several of the classes and that was simply a typo here or there and as a pro we have to cover all of the bases. Get it right no matter the format-even down to the most common things like spelling. Loved the courses on flash photography & the common sense approach to knowing your markets and being realistic about whom, what and why we need to cover our tracks. Thank You Mr. Borland the the great course.

As someone who is continuing to learn more and more about professional photography, I found this course quite compelling. I took the time to actually listen to every lecture and print every assignment as I progressed through the program. I appreciated examples of how commercial photography was done, and examples of how attending outdoor events would help increase potential sales. The instruction is given as if he was talking to and helping me, rather than just out to promote himself as I have experienced with other classes. If you are interested in what lens to use to take what photograph, this is not the course for you, but if you want an understanding of the practical application of being an outdoor photographer, check this out. I look forward to future classes and would recommend this class to anyone looking to get a true introduction in what life will be like to be a commercially viable Outdoor and Nature Photographer.
