What was discussed in this class was NOT what I was expecting. It really had me looking/thinking about my own type of assertiveness, listening, commenting skills; not only in meetings or in conversations 1 on 1 with other co-workers but my overall life (Friends/Family). GREAT Class not only for Managers but for team members, we all can become better skilled in all aspects of what was taught in this class. KUDOS ! 5 Stars

This is an amazing course on how to achieve that balance between likability and assertiveness. I think everyone in a company should need to take this course before taking on a role where they are put in positions of power over others. Thank you to the instructor for an incredible delivery as well. I will be recommending this course to my colleagues.

Exceptional training! Makes you really think about how you speak with so many practical tips to help you on your journey. Highly recommend!! The only negative, there seems to be some background noises in the recording (drilling, woman speaking) and I found it distracting (and it's not where I am, I keep pausing to double check thinking I'm going mad, and where I am is silent!).

It was really good. I think it really helps reinforce some of the concepts that you may have heard of but never really tried to understand more deeply and integrate new concepts in your day-to-day life as a manager, coworker, and person in general. It also gives a lot of action items, next steps, and examples that you can start using right away, which is even more useful than just having the concepts thrown at you.

On the day I learnt about saying "No" I managed to communicate to my project manager that I'm not the answer to his question, he need to liaise with his other team members - it felt liberating. Thank you for the course, you have given me the tools to handle tough situations.

I found this course to be incredibly insightful on how to lead with EQ. If your workplace culture is challenging, this is a great course to start trying to change that culture and point it in the right direction. I think this has great lessons for everyone, in any role. I also appreciate that the course is kept short, it gets to the most important points and if you take good notes, you have what you need to implement the material.

Some of the advice is dangerous. In business, telling on yourself is going to open you up to exploitation. There are plenty of people who don’t care about your attempt to establish empathy. They will see weakness and respond with force. Another example of bad advice is the part in the “blurting” section about stopping a meeting and calling out someone for a comment toward a 3rd person that is insensitive. Bad idea. This is humiliating to the person you confront, high handed by you, and a transparent attempt to assert dominance in a scenario where they must back down. If you want to create an implacable enemy, you just succeeded. Also the 3rd person won’t appreciate that they now seem weak for having to be defended. A better approach there is to handle it privately after the meeting. This course might be useful for contexts such as a family or a workplace where everyone is basically friendly - but that’s about it.

Would have liked more scripts to follow. This is one course that could benefit from a community or group of "students" enrolled at or around the same time for real-time discussions. There needs to be some feedback given for homework to check in and see if we're on the right track. There were a few typos on slides that became distracting.

The course really opened my eyes to how I've been handling situation at my work place. The information provided was very well placed out however the references made to some individuals and books unfortunately makes me feel like I've missed out on something, and that i wouldn't get the whole concept until I've read the books referred to in the training

The course in a nutshell is a reminder and a map for navigating kindness, likability and assertiveness. Without many models of effective leadership, I find myself often having to choose one or the other. This course is a reminder that we can have both; assertiveness is not aggression, and likability doesn't come at the expense of being a pushover. Like any learning, it will take time, and many replays before it is fully integrated, but It is already providing pointers, and conversation starters with people in my life that can only affect positively my professional and personal relationships.
