There are some useful tasks on determining your idea and job descriptions for board members and key staff that may come handy later. The rest was rather obvious and/or too generic. I also found the design of the videos off-putting.

This is an excellent class on building a non-profit. Even if you're not interested in doing that, it will teach you other important facts about either running a business, or understanding what it means to be customer or client focused in any business or employment. The visuals are great, downloads are meaningful, and I feel most questions are answered. Thanks.

Dr Jamal is a fantastic and genuine professor. It is evident that she cares about the success of her students. She took her time with the animations, and she organized a great deal of information into small enough segments that she could teach and I could learn. I highly recommend Dr Jamal and her courses.

As someone who oversees a group of non-profit grantees, I found this presentation incredibly helpful and eye-opening. It was presented in a clear, concise, and easy-to-follow way. It enriched my understanding of the challenges non-profits can experience. You can tell that the teacher is proficient in the topic. In terms of improvements, the graphic design and background audio (music) is a bit inconsistent -- the first half uses more dynamic graphics, while the second half is more static. The music is interesting and some tracks seemed misaligned to the tone of the presentation (i.e. soap opera type music in a few slides was confusing). The narrator's voice was very consistent and tied the whole thing together.

This course was very informative as to how to identify your area of problem resolution that you would want to focus on, and how and what to begin with. I would have loved to have more examples of nonprofit building but I definitely learned a lot. It was not boring, but rather interesting and kept me engaged. I was wanting more by the end of it.

By Kevin Epps on 5/31/2019

So far I'm loving how this is being broken down. You have a calming voice, which definitely makes it even easier to intake the information. Also, love the short quizzes to keep me engaged. I wish I would've had this course 7 years ago, and I'm glad I didn't go half cocked without considering the material presented. Thankfully it was a lot easier to group what I've done up until now to the worksheets, as it helped me know how far along I was. I needed this.

Everything is great so far in this course. It's helping me organize and understand better the process of starting a non-profit. Helpful worksheets are in the course also. The only thing I would change though is that there be a more, in-depth, part 2. It would be awesome if I was able to purchase a part 2 to help me understand more in-depth of what I need to do. This course isn't as in-depth, so it would be beneficial to add another course for purchase.

Dr. Jamal has assembled a very nice "applied" learning curriculum, with very decisive information. Education is exactly what you put into it, so I received quite a bit of foundation understanding; however, it could have been even more interactively "applied" with more frequent quizzes, and a little more realistic format for viewing.

By Daniel Vogt on 1/15/2016

Wanting to start a nonprofit, I had already done soe research and then found this class. It covers some very basic concepts and ideas, but then goes into detail in such a way that seemed to be much easier to understand. If you are a new being a social entrepreneur, this is definitely the first class you should take.
