Most of the explanations are superficial. Observations about free sources - Yahoo and Alpha Vantage are free and seem fairly complete. FXCM is free to set up demo account, but excludes US and Canada. Oanda works only in US and Canada. eodhistoricaldata is paid service. It would have been better to focus on Yahoo and Alpha and go into more detail.

This course presents a solid introduction to financial data capture from different sources and is recommended for those who are interested in capturing both technical and fundamental information in Python.

This is a excellent detailed explanation of how to upload market data into a python work space for analysis and data manipulation. Data is free and abundant. Python is clearly very powerful and easy to use. Explanation is in English and presentation and explanation is easy to follow and grasp. I am so lucky to find this course.

The course is an extremely comprehensive and hands-on tutorial to scraping financial data. it covers a wide array of asset classes and unique real world code structures to solve data issues you may encounter. The fact that multiple sources for extracting data are provided ranging from free & less reliable to paid for subscriptions and therefore more reliable is an added plus as it provides a starting point for any trader to begin form. The added Pandas boot camp in the appendix is nice additional practice for those newer to Python.

As the name suggests the course delivers info and source code on "Importing Finance Data with Python from Free Web Sources". The sources are free but based on the provider, the required info and frequency you may have to pay. Pro: -the author is impartial and is not selling anything: no affiliate URL is provided -source code that you can test and use Cons: -OANDA and "Section 8: Appendix 1: Pandas Crash Course" do not have attached source code Nice to have: -be more explicit on section name: what provider you're using. For example instead of "Section 2: Importing Financial Data from Web Source 1" you can say "Section 2: Importing Financial Data from Yahoo Finance" -it would be superb if you provide a news API provider for those who want to trade the news -you can move section 7 at the beginning of the course. When I've started watching the course I had to search for the source code

The course explore in detail some financial sources for a range of needs from free and popular web pages to comprehensive financial sources with different price plans. The instructor answers the questions in a reasonable period and really works to solve technical issues of the programming exercises. Further improvement of the course could include some other web pages like Finnhub and Finviz. The experience and the exercises acquired are a good primer to start working with financial data analysis.

If you are new to Python, Pandas, and or Jupyter Notebooks then this course will help you gain familiarity with all three. The 'bonus' crash course on Pandas is easily worth the price alone and the most valuable component. This course assumes a basic understanding of Python as the instructor shows you step by step how to use API's for a few different sources. What it is lacking however is the 'why' aspect on a lot of the API or python commands. I found I was keeping a lot of notes in the code to explain what was happening or why it was being done like that. Aside from step by step instructions to the selected sources, there was no valuable tips, tricks, or value adds pertaining to each source

Very nice course. I learned how to import financial data with python , how to install necessary packages and how to see documents. his explanation is good to understand and source code are good volume (not too much not too few).

Putting my experience with this course in one sentence, I say, "Alex is the best adviser and teacher for Finance professionals and coding beginners!" Why do I draw that conclusion? Well, that's been my third course with him as a teacher and I can really say that there's hardly anybody better in terms of structuring complex thoughts into 'easy' lines of code so that everybody understands. In this course, one can learn the very same steps how to retrieve data from four different data portals. For me, there is a special data source for every user. For heavy and more interested user, EOD is probably the best. Thank you, Alex, for showing us all the wonderful things you can do with Python thanks to your help! You're really great in structuring things and explaining tougher steps so that everybody can follow. That's a great talent of your's which I am looking forward to enjoy in several more (advanced) courses!

This is an excellent, and much needed course. Alex explains everything clearly and leaves nothing to chance, never simply asking the viewer to 'figure it out themselves'. Should you not be familiar with the Pandas package within Python, Alex again has you covered with a Pandas crash course added at the end of the course, also some comprehensive videos on installing Anaconda Python and using Jupyter Notebook templates are added too. Furthermore, I had an issue in one of the lectures and once I had provided screenshots of the problem, I had a response from Alex within minutes. This is an instructor that clearly cares about his students. The course is worth the price of entry for the functions that Alex has written to access the EOD data, and I'd love to see Alex compile them into a powerful Python wrapper! I highly recommend this course, and indeed the rest of Alex's catalogue.
