Course Description

Oracle Database  is a relational database management system -RDBMS that is widely used by a lot of organisations to store and manage their data.

Database backup and recovery as well as securing the database from unauthorized access are key tasks performed by Database administrators or anyone that closely works with  or looks after databases.

As a backup administrator, your principal duty is to devise, implement, and manage a backup and recovery strategy. In general, the purpose of a backup and recovery strategy is to protect the database against data loss and reconstruct the database after data loss.

The Oracle database provides security in the form of authentication, authorization, and auditing. Authentication ensures that only legitimate users gain access to the system. Authorization ensures that those users only have access to resources they are permitted to access.


This course is a practical hands-on that will teach you how to:

    • Perform a database  restore and recovery
    • View and retrieve historical data using Flashback technology
    • Recover and retrieve dropped tables
    • Establish security measures to protect the database

This course did bring me some information I needed to know in order to understand Oracle backup. It is however outdated (it was recorded in 2017 with no updates since). This means that we are stuck to finding an old copy of Oracle 11g Express (you can use the latest SQL Developer though as it still works with older Oracle versions). The core content is still valid. The delivery is very slow.

It could use more topics. Let us say it covers 60% of oracle database options. But in total its a bit useful.

The information is great. I am learning little things about Oracle that I hard of but wasn't sure where to go or how to do it. However, the instructor is a little too informal in how he presents certain concepts and ideas. Yet, he is very knowledgeable and I wish he worked for me as a DBA!
