Course Description

Today unit testing is the absolutely required skill which is required from any professional developer. Companies expect from developers to know how to write unit tests including all the most important topics such as mocking and test driven development (TDD in short).

This course is all about practicing TDD using C# programming language and NUnit as a unit testing framework. Along the way, we will learn the concepts related to unit testing. This course does not cover all the features of NUnit. This course is way more interesting.

Learning unit testing and TDD puts a powerful and very useful tool at your fingertips. Being familiar with unit testing and TDD you can write reliable and maintainable applications. It is very hard to lead a project which is not covered by unit tests.

Content and Overview

This course is primarily aimed at developers who’re already familiar with the basics of unit testing and dependency injection. Some experience in C# programming is required.

Theory is dead without practice, so starting from the second section, you’ll see tons of programming sessions where I’ll demonstrate how to implement generating of Fibonacci numbers, FizzBuzz, parsing of roman numerals, updateable spin synchronization primitives, tic-tac-toe or crosses and noughts game and game in sticks. You’ll also learn:

  • How a regular agile development process looks like

  • That you need to learn shortcuts to practice TDD more smoothly

  • Three Main TDD techniques: faking, triangulation and obvious implementation

  • Which tests to write first

  • How to start writing a test in a TDD manner

Here is my Teaching Approach -

The course is good, if you check the reviews the one with less than 3 starts are kind of naive. Some peaple that dont know even the basics of programming checking a course about TDD. Other reviews didnt like the professor's accent. The course is a very good introduction to TDD. But is not a course for a begginer take.

Excelente, completísimo y muy claro. Muy buen equilibro de teoría y práctica. El instructor hace los videos llevaderos e interesantes. Totalmente recomendable.

Trimmed, Efficient and Responsible. It's does great on the theory with the basic foundations. At hands on learning, it started with some strange examples, but after it followed with very consistent practices and I got a grip on every of them.

The material is great for intruducing TDD. Thanks for the detailed examples. I typed all code, but I cannot find the last part of Sticks which you just copied from background as magic :-)

Lots of insights on TDD and testing in general, able to shed some light on a dodgy subject when working with big and small applications

By Edgar Yovanni Rivera Nolasco on 7/17/2020

Good explanation, this is how most of developers waste time and gets strress by doing de implementation first and do the test when the bugs arrises. Better do test first than doing it later

Awesome beginners course! Great to have a free "intro" course like this to determine if I should get the paid advanced classes in this topic. (hint: I will be getting them)

By Vinicius Uemura on 11/12/2019

The concepts of TDD are well explained and the introductory examples are very good. However, it's not explained how to set up a project and it's really hard to follow the other examples as they are showed in a too fast pace.

Английский язык у преподавателя, для которого английский не родной всегда понятней чем у нативного носителя. Рассказывает понятно, подача материала логична и последовательна.

I thought this was a really good course right up until the last few modules in particular the final 'sticks' game. The instructor was typing way too quick which made it impossible to follow at times and I ended up not finishing the module because I got frustrated. I do however feel it is a real good introduction to TDD and I have taken away some good knowledge of the process, e.g. Red, Green Refactor. Faking, Triangulation etc.
