Rayan's course is great. He does into detail about a lot of the specifics of java. An approach of his that I really like is the fact that he goes through all of the applications with the debugger. This allows you to really hammer home concepts that may be hard to mentally visualize. On of these areas that stuck out to me was the OOP areas with objects and how their memory locations can change or not change depending what actions are done. In terms of improvement I think this course could use with some more in-depth videos or interfaces. A lot of the examples were pre-setup with no explanation of why. I would love to see a sort of "proper application organization" section where Rayan can explain the best ways to structure projects.

I have a lot of courses (maybe close to 100 ) on Udemy covering a wide range of topics. To my good knowledge, I have only left an early review for 1 of those courses, and only because it was excellent. This is also one of those courses. I am only on Section 5: Variables as of writing this review, but already, I can tell it is a top course for learning Java. I strongly believe I can give this opinion early on as I come from a teaching background, so am well equipped to sport a good lecturer and quality material. The lessons are to the point, backed up with quizzes and workbooks to help the learner grasp the concepts. This makes the course engaging without it becoming boring and laborious. Hats off and thank you ! Looking forward to more lessons and building skills

It is a good course for many reasons. First, it contains so many details so that freshman like me can suit the environment of java just by following the instructions. Second, the course have been designed carefully, helping me build a foundamation of java without frequently pausing cause encountering ploblems. And it's has many projects with hints so they are not so hard like they seem to, and finishing them gives me a sense of achivement ,which pushes me forward. I believe that the course is designed carefully and take so much details into consideration, and it's suitable for a beginner to learn and develop the interest of java

I've finished all of the main sections of the course except the Legacy (Old Content) section and can say that generally for people who are starting their journey with Java (like I was) this is a good course. The course is well organized, explanations are quite clear, examples are understandable and well explained most of the times. The only exception for me was the Interface section which in my view was very poorly explained, a bit chaotic and backwards. With Interface I lacked the clear explanation what an interface actually is? why do we need one? what's the pros of it? how to set it up and how to use? Especially, taking into consideration that in the final Capstone project we have to work with one. This was a disappointment for me as I really enjoyed the course overall. The other suggestion that I can make regarding the course is to add two or three bigger projects that are close to the real world projects. Because now I know Java syntax, OOP approach, more or less understand Java logic and how it works, but I don't really understand what exactly I can build with it? By having such projects in the course students will get better understanding what they can do with Java and also there will be something they can be inspired, build something similar to put into their portfolio or GitHub to prove that they truly understand Java and not just finished the course. Overall very good course, but it has a potential to be a great one :)

This is the best Java bootcamp course I've taken (To date I've done 3 on Udemy and one with Merit America). But contrary to the claims, it is not "complete" because it really must contain SQL and a good bit of javascript. Honestly this is not a big deal for me because you get all this in their next course at a 90% discount. Anyway, I'm grateful for this material because I've graduated from learning into doing. Just be aware that doing Java is like watching a movie of someone watching a movie, and understanding what they're watching. So investing in other courses too will give some much needed perspective.

Bought course as a refresher before starting my second java position after few years of coding in python, sadly the course did not meet my expectations. This course is for total beginners, but was sold as for all levels while there is little content to meet that statement. Taking one star for misleading information. Still the course can be very good for those who totally new in the programing world. Funny how Instructor insists that VS Code to be best IDE but truth is Intellij IDEA is miles ahead for Java devs, anyone saying the opposite probably never coded proper Java code with productivity in mind. Was annoying to look how instructor struggle because of the use of wrong IDE. But why on earth you would use some imaginary game from children's book? Not everyone is familiar with that game! some people allergic to Potter stuff. Intro to Polymorphism is very shallow, once again points that the course is only for very beginners. Some examples in this course will not make the sense for those who want to learn what it really means polymorphic or to have abstract class or interface... Do approve MT/concurrency chapter, the only one which holds me from taking my money back.

Great course for someone who is a beginner. In Section 22: Unit Testing, Stream API and Lambda Expressions; I am feeling a large disconnect between the content referenced and what I learned prior. It feels as if I missed a couple sections, but I keep back tracking to see if you mentioned things like parse or how packages work, and I just missed it, but I can't find it. Basically at Section 22 continuity starts to fall apart, and I have to google/troubleshoot to follow along (which is fine!). So far I have had a blast doing all the content even if the learning structure is a bit "we learn that later, or we'll come back to it" which is against how I like to learn, but *sigh* I am avoiding the google rabbit hole, and I feel like I am indeed learning to code Java.

I have done with course for now. I learned amazing things . The most valuable part of this course for me, Instructor explains logic of every subject. Besides that animation parts of the videos are excellent. Lastly, thanks for Workbooks, there are lots of practice and all of them leads you to the purpose. Just a little problem; order of sections after "The World of Objects" section has confused me and in "Inheritance and Polymorphism" section I had to sort out some videos that more seems like advanced. So for now rating of this course for me 4.5 stars. If you update the sections above I mentioned, I will edit rating as 5 stars. As I said I edited rating as 5 after the updates. Now this course is fairly the best Java course in Udemy.

I am currently finishing the functions and loops section. This is where I think the course gets a little shaky. Firstly, it's very confusing trying to follow the video on functions, the deleting and adjusting of syntax makes it very difficult to follow and retain the information. There are things being questioned on the quizzes that are not covered in the theory. There are also functions we are expected to know and use even though we haven't been taught them, which leads to frustration. For example: The instructor hints at searching Oracle for Math.random to see how it works. I look it up, it's the same theory as taught in the course. However, on a Workbook, we are expected to use something like random += 1;. to increase the random number by 1. This is not taught in the course and looking at the description on Orcale, it is not mentioned. It is integral to know this in order to be able to finish the workbook, but not taught? I joined the course so I can learn from one source and not hop around the internet hoping I find the right answer. I don't know what question to ask since I have never used something like the Math.random. I was on the discord searching for anything that would help me on the Black Jack challenge and came upon a thread from the instructor that said " I personally learned to program from struggling to build projects, and it gladdens me to know the exercises are giving you guys the same experience". Should it be frustrating to learn? if you are learning by yourself without any support, it will be frustrating. As a guitar instructor, I want my students to learn faster than I did with less frustration and hurdles. We don't need to haze them or have them struggle so they can learn. That's why many people don't succeed in school. I went through the struggles so they don't have too. I spent hours trying to find a course that I could follow and that makes sense and is practical so I didn't have to go outside the course to learn about a topic. If all the tools are given to the student, they should be able to solve a problem. It is very difficult to solve a problem without knowing a tool was available in the first place. I have wasted a great deal of time trying to figuring out why certain things are not in the course thinking I missed something. Or trying to get support from discord which is lacking. So now I feel that I have to look at the solutions on these to be able to get through theses final workbooks and challenges. Some recommendations to the course creators: There should be a focus on Syntax. When do I use brackets, semi colons etc. Where should place If comparisons in my code? What area should I put functions in my code? update*( this is briefly mentioned in scope. I think it should have been taught much sooner in the course). Every workbook should have a solution video so the students can see and understand why you made certain choices. This may help prevent a lot of questions as well. *Course has been updated with solution videos, but some of the solutions uses different code than what was taught and there is no instruction on why the instructor used different code than what was taught. The quizzes should have a brief description of why the answer is correct or why it is not when getting an answer wrong. This would help knowing why is answer is right or wrong. Fully teach a subject, give all the tools needed to solve a problem. Only briefly touching on a subject like Math.random and not giving the student everything they need to complete a project can lead to frustration or a student giving up. The workbook solutions should cover what was taught and not differentiate from what was taught. This leads to confusion and the students wondering if they actually grasp the topic. if it is expected for a student to learn a certain topic on their own, make sure it is clearly explained that it is expected and make sure the results from what the student found are in line with what is expected in the course. That could be done with a follow up solution.

This is a good course, but I wouldn't choose as my very first Java course. There are a ton of concepts here and I think it would be overwhelming for an absolute beginner to programming. Also, I think the section on concurrency could be updated. I think teaching about the synchronized keyword would be more relevant to most programmers experience. Lambdas and functional programming could also be better explained and described. One thing I really loved about this course was all the workbooks, quizzes and projects! I lot of courses leave these things out all together and make the student wonder if he/she has really grasped the language. I especially enjoyed the section on unit testing. If you successfully complete the workbooks and projects in this course, I think you will feel quite comfortable with Java.
