Course Description
Take a step-by-step approach to learning how to build a complete JavaScript game. In this course we will cover the basic set up of the HTML and CSS pages and then we will dive right into coding our game! Starting from creating basic shapes on our canvas element to animating a ball, and then finally keeping track of the player's lives and score. We will cover many interesting topics, including:
- HTML canvas element
- for loops
- arrays
- objects
- creating custom functions
- mouse controls
And much more!
There are only two things that you need to take this course: an internet connection and a computer. There is no need to download any paid software or set up complex development environments.
The course is 1.5 hours long and is structured in a step-by-step manner, from simple to more difficult concepts. We build the JavaScript game from the ground up and cover each game component one at a time - so you will never feel overwhelmed with the content.
With the knowledge gained in this course you can move forward and build more complex JavaScript games, and use the game you created at the end of this course to add to your portfolio or just impress your friends.

Great course. I loved how when creating your variables, you didn't just add all the ones you would need at once. Instead you created the variable and the function which helped understand how they work together, and for any changes along the way. The where and how. Which helped understand how each part of code worked together.

This course is okay for those who are looking to do something in JavaScript. By no means is this a learn JS course, so look elsewhere if you where thinking that. Otherwise, I did enjoy the course, to me it was just something to do because I am new to JS and wanted to do something visual with the language. The instructor is kind of hard to understand, but nothing too troubling. I like that it's short and to the point.

Hi my name is Erik Petersson and I'm a .net developer aiming to create a solid foundation for my company Shackle. I'm very interrested in game development but I'm still very novice. This course has helped me understand JavaScript game development further. In my opinion the instructor manages to supply a course with approx 2,5h of video material that is outstanding when comparing what you can learn from the 2,5h of videos. This course was extremly fun to go through, but of course after all that knowledge gained per video I had to take a few breaks. I made an honest review about this specific course: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pN6xtzSekbA // Erik Petersson, Shackle

The course is good, for people who're planning to buy it. The thing which isn't that good is that you have to be intermediate to advanced in Javascript to fully understand every concept in this course. I rate myself 3/10 in javascript, knowing only the basics, but that's totally not enough to fully understand this course and do it multiple times. But I had fun imitating the course maker's coding and successfully did the game, which was interesting. Positives: Short course, into the work, and all questions you have are already answered by the instructor in the Q&A section. Negatives: For intermediates in JS, and no source code between lectures. I'd recommend this course for anybody who has a very good basic knowledge in Javascript. That's it! Goodluck!

Awesome course! Everything was very well explained and the code and variables used were also clear and understandable. Moreover, the Lecturer's English is clear, so watchers can understand what he says (unlike some other courses I participated in on Udemy). Cheers. :)

I had a blast doing this course as i learnt many new things about JavaScript programming as i only use JavaScript for validation and use of jQuery but now i understood and have exhausted the technique on how to use JavaScript in many other ways.

This course is the best explanation on how to use JS I've seen. Although there is much more to JS than was covered here, it is a nice course to put together the working knowledge of JS after watching other verbose and technical courses. This course also expands the world of JS by looking at animation, event handlers, and drawing with explicit and logical explainations. Great Job!

The instructor mentions that he's assuming you already have some experience with HTML and JS coding. However, he also provides resources and assistance to those that may need further help to understand. That said, I think this is a perfect course to walk you through the basics of a simple game and pick up the 'language' by immersion.

The subject is interesting The instructor has many typos and does not build the code in a structured manner. For example the initialization of the brick's locations should be performed once in the program and not in every frame. The location of the functions and event handling methods in the code are scattered with no structural sense. Using a non paid version of sublime text and ignoring the payment messages does not pass well. Buy the software or don't use it in a tutorial.

An excellent free course giving you exactly what it tells that it will give you. I would have extended it a bit to include some randomness to the game but maybe that's up to us students... Sometimes it's really stunning that many free courses are way better than so many paid for courses.
