Course Description
JavaScript is the language of the internet. Learning it has allowed many front and backend web developers to get jobs. Yet JavaScript’s newest features can be confusing and hard to understand.
Nearly 200,000 students have learned from my course "JavaScript: Understanding the Weird Parts" which so many tell me formed the foundation of their careers today, and they still review yearly. This is the sequel, continuing your JavaScript education and diving into even more advanced concepts, under-the-hood!
In this course you will learn to deeply understand how modern advanced JavaScript language features work under-the-hood, such as:
Block Scoping (let and const)
Templates
Classes
Arrow Functions
Symbols
Iterators and Iterables
Default Parameters
Rest and Spread
ES6 and beyond refers to features added to the JavaScript language in ES6 and ES Next. These features often will make your coding life easier, and are used by modern JavaScript frameworks, like React, Vue, Angular, and more.
As always, these topics will be covered with the focus on my core philosophy: "Don't Imitate, Understand". You won't try to learn by imitating the code I'm writing, but rather by deeply understanding how these language features work inside JavaScript engines. Deeply understanding means you will not only write better code, but also find it much easier to debug problems.
This course’s goal, then, is to help you have a deep understanding of JavaScript’s newest features. Through analysis of the inner working of the JavaScript engine, you can write code more confidentially and fix problems others find difficult.
It’s time for you to deeply understand advanced JavaScript concepts!
Happy coding!

Anthony Alicea
Born and raised in Cleveland Ohio, now married and living in upstate New York, Tony is primarily focused these days on trying to be a good husband. While inexperienced at that, he's quite experienced in all things web.
Tony has been programming since he was 12 years old, and got into web sites and web application development at 16. After graduating with a Computer Science degree from Case Western Reserve University, Tony continued with that interest as a software application developer and architect, database designer, and user interface designer.
His 25 years of experience has ranged across technologies such as modern semantic HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Angular, Vue, Node.js, SQL as well as user experience design, usability testing and more.
He believes strongly that deeply understanding any topic allows you to properly learn it and, even more importantly in a real-world environment, quickly overcome problems.
He also has a deep interest in human nature and behavior, and how that impacts human-computer interaction. This interest translated into extending his career into user experience design and usability research.
Another link in the chain is his 25 years of experience in public speaking and teaching, both in front of large groups and as a one-on-one private instructor.

I took the first part about 10 years ago and it allowed me to get my first dev job. Now I took this one as a refresher as part of my preparation for job interviews. 1.75x speed worked well for me, because I was already familiar with the material, but if you're new to this - pick a slower pace. Overall the course is pretty solid, but take the first part first if you haven't yet.

I liked this course. I have 5 years of experience with JavaScript, but some of the topics were still very useful. Symbols were always unclear to me, but now I understand how I can use them. The Prototypes section was a bit confusing — for example, I didn’t fully understand the difference between __proto__ and prototype, or maybe I just missed that part. The quizzes after each section are great!

Mr. Alicea offers the best courses related to JavaScript! He may be the only instructor I have ever encountered who not only understands the language in great detail but also presents original content without imitation. I have many courses in Udemy, but this is my first comment related to a specific course.

Very easy to follow, covers the essential concepts of ES6 programming that will help optimize JS development. All topics are thoroughly explained through helpful examples. There is a quiz at the end of each chapter which I have used for continual reinforcement - they're useful to have. The course is rather short and I wish more topics were covered, a small blemish to an otherwise great learning experience.

This was my second course from Tony. His structure, use of coding examples, and calm and focused presentation make challenging topics understandable quickly and easily. Trying to build a web app for a friend's business, and I immediately bought his HTML and CSS course after finishing this one, to get a solid refresher on those topics as well.

Tony never disappoints. I am amazed how clear Tony gets with his explanations regardless of the complexity of the topics. Some topics are really advanced here, but very clear at the same time thanks to instructor's wonderful articulation of these topics. Amazing course.

Any course I EVER find taught by Tony Alicea I BUY it. He explains code, concepts so clearly you walk away UNDERSTANDING what is going on in the code and/or syntax, why it's going on and how it's going on. If you truly want to OVERSTAND this topic, or ANY topic that he teaches, you will not be disappointed. Tony Alicea just shines.

Anthony didn't disappointed me with a new addition to his original javascript course. I've been working with ES6 during a couple of years and yet Anthony's lessons gave me insights that I never saw before. His knowledge is just impressive, but is even more remarcable how delivers each lesson with such phase that you can understand them with two passes as much. He is a must when you really want to know javascript.

The course is amazing as expected from Tony. His philosophy of "Don't Imitate Understand" is excellent. It changed my perspective of looking at code. But I felt the course to be too short as compared to Tony's previous JavaScript course. I hope the author adds more content in the future. Overall a mind blowing experience.

The content delivered is of a very high level on the one hand but explained in a way that makes understanding easy and simple, I took many courses on udemy and other platforms and this combination is very rare. The lecturer's voice is also very pleasant to the ear and this detail is important when you want to complete the course. In conclusion, I am very satisfied with the course, it is worth every dollar I invested in it and even more Those who want to deeply understand what they are doing when dealing with JS code I don't know of a better substitute than this course
