I've been developing games using Unity3D for over 17 years now. I currently have ten games published on the Android app store. My first game I ever wrote, 'Isle Survive', has had over 1 million downloads and an average rating of 4 out of 5. I have also written numerous Unity plugins to enable adding features to mobile games like advertising banners and 'In-App' purchasing.
Account packages, haulage systems, mainframe processors, websites... I've done all sorts of programming but now I try to write games and it is so much more fun!
I still remember how excited I was, getting my ZX81 and writing my first few lines of BASIC. Yes I'm that old...
I love how the barrier of entry to game development has been lowered these past few years. I'm sure this has a lot to do with the current indie game explosion and I'm very excited for the future.

For introduction to make a game it's good, you learn a little bit of class import, export, node, but you need to know some aspects of JS to understand all the project, its easy for beginners and short, like the instructors say it's not full project because there some elements missed like sounds, screens of game over etc, but the functionality it works.

I think it is better to add more details like sound, text message, start button, etc. Although this details are relatively simple, they are necessary in a beginner course

Overall, not bad. But I would like a little more explanation - what is being done and why. Plus sometimes the text is too small on the screen - it would be great if there was zooming in the working area.

No files available. If you're stuck and want to track a potential error in your code you need to browse through videos and wait for the author to click on a file to see the code or start from the beginning.

Very well done actually. A nice way to just jump into using node, express and phaser which I have wanted to do for a while. I'm about 50% completed, I just finished the snake but I definitely feel as if I have learned a lot of valuable information and I'm very happy with the course. It would be awesome if you had a paid course in which you create 20+ simple games using this method. I'd totally buy it! Just signed up to your free react course just now. Thank you very much!

I don't think this course is titled correctly. I wonder if it should be called something like 'Introduction to JavaScript game development with Phaser'. It doesn't seem to attempt to teach JavaScript, which is what's implied by the current title 'Learn modern JavaScript by...'. (Note, this is based on the first 27%, and because of this I'm now losing interest. That said, the course was free, and if I ever did want to create a 2D JavScript game, then I'd probably come back here (after learning JavaScript elsewhere).

Very good! It would be improved by explaining more deeply the concepts and tools used although this is a short course. And I came here for a short and practical initiation on js, node and web dev. So, five stars!

Perfect short course to get you started (and excited) in just 1.5 hours. Thank you for not giving lots of unnecessary information and repeating yourself. You've opened the door for game development for me. This is all I wanted. Thanks heaps.

This course is really good if you want to see results in a matter of hours. The instructor goes through the code fairly quickly, but still slow enough to understand what is going on. It is fun to create a small game yourself. This course is definitely worth following.
