I found this course very helpful. I had covered a lot of the material before without ever really making sense of it. Finally, this course enabled me to start making sense of many issues which had puzzled me before, such as why consonants in Russian are classified as genuinely hard and soft rather than just classifying vowels as hard and soft and saying that the consonant has the quality of the succeeding vowel. The use of the hard and soft signs was similarly clarified. But those are just examples. The whole course was illuminating and very well organised. I was surprised at how well the videos were done, from a technical perspective. This course is very good value for money. I will certainly now go on to do part two. I offer my many thanks to its creator for the care and attention which went into the design and production of this course.

The course is good. But I believe it could be improved by introducing the words before you use them in a sentence. And each sentence need to be pronounced word by word in order to see the video without stopped it.

I actually enjoyed this Russian course. It can be challenging but the pronunciation of the Russian language is beautiful and it's not easy to learn Russian. If you enjoy learning Russian, you will definitely do well. The instructor provided organized lectures and set up examples. Recommend this free course for those who want to learn Russian.

Good material, but NOT as a stand-alone beginner course. Very useful as supplement material for intermediate student review. Lots of material is at the intermediate/late intermediate level with no explanation of verb conjugation used, or vocabulary definitions. SPOILER ALERT: Looks like part 2 will help cover those topics lacking in part one based on description at end of this course. I may try at a later date.

Very good explanations and examples. I also like how vocabulary is starting to build while learning the alphabet and the sounds. Looking forward to the second course!

I liked the course, I think some pronunciations should be performed more slowly. It was interesting some text that was showed, it take some time to understand cyrilo alphabet, some words are similar to latin alphabet and it can be a little bit confusing. Thanks for this free course. ;)

What a great course! The instructor is obviously fluent in Russian and clearly vocalizes every phoneme. The downloads are top notch, and the poem and children's story were quite entertaining. Overall, by no means comprehensive, this course elegantly provides the required oral foundation in a clear and concise manner. I would highly recommend this to anyone with even a passing interest in Russian.

This course included everything I expected from such a course, and covered the material clearly and concisely. It is a fine first step in the introduction to the Russian language. I'd recommend it to any English speaker curious about learning Russian.
