Course Description

Learn one of the hottest new Graphics APIs in the industry!
The Vulkan APIwas released in 2016 as the high-performance successor to OpenGL, and is already used in a wide range of modern graphical applications, including video games such as Doom Eternal, RedDead Redemption 2, and RainbowSix:
Siege.
If you're looking for the most modern, high-quality graphics, then look no further than Vulkan!
The Vulkan APIis very new when compared to most graphics APIs out there, and so there aren't yet that many in-depth tutorials to help you learn it. I hope to fix that with this course! In this course, you will learn how to set up and use a Vulkan application, as well as implement several key features exclusive to Vulkan itself, such as Descriptor Sets, Push Constants, and Subpasses. Each aspect is explained in great amounts of detail, to ensure you really understand what all the parts mean, and how they all connect together.
I want to help you learn. If you still don't understand something after a lesson, then you just have to let me know! If something didn't make sense, or you just want clarification on a subject, I'll try my best to give you a more detailed insight into those intricacies, and ensure you have a proper understanding of Vulkan.
It is my goal, that when you finally finish the course, you will have enough knowledge of Vulkan to create your own Vulkan applications, and eventually gain enough experience to design the graphical applications you have only dreamed of!
Who this course is for:
People who know a bit about graphics and want to learn the latest cutting-edge graphics API.

it was, however, I'd like to know more about memory management as well :)

Thank you for making this course. I've been waiting for a video course like this ever since Vulkan came out in 2016, but I'm glad that we're getting it now that it's got a lot more solid driver support and dev tools.
The explanations are really well-done. Some of your explanations answered questions I had such as "Why doesn't the logical device claim all the queues in a queue family?" It turns out, it's because a physical device can have multiple logical devices, which was another question you answered.
This has been a great walkthrough of the Vulkan API so far!

Very clear and usefull explanation, useful and pragmatic as well.
It is pitty that the captions/subtitles are auto generated nonsense , it would NOT take a lot of energy correcting this.
Sometimes it goes to fast, as soon as a line of code is written, Ben swap to another window without letting the student an opportunity to read double check the syntax, fortunatelly I could often pause the video and slow it down.

A great introduction to Vulkan which still a very new thing and without many tutorials out there. Very clear explanations supported by the encouragement of adding comments into the code. One of my favorite instructors on Udemy, hope he continues delivering quality content on computer graphics.

So far, the course has been a fine match for what I was looking for - not for a beginner programmer, nor for someone who's never learned anything about graphics, but for someone who has a basic understanding on the fundamentals, but might need a brief refresher, and someone who's never looked at Vulkan specifically before.

Really impressed with this course so far it covers pretty much everything you will need to get a functioning vulkan renderer and then some.
Highly recommended, will most likely get the course on openGL too.

I liked how concepts stack on each other.
I miss some diagrams on concepts and how all data structures fit with each other. I'd spend more time with UML or flow diagrams to see how things really happen.

Just watching the introductory stuff and I must say the nice attitude and honest approach to present the course is commendable.

By Rick Twohy on 10/5/2020

Love the course so far. He dives deep into every data structure we are using and describing exactly what our code is doing. He also leaves comments for every line of code for referencing in the future. Awesome Series!

Great course!

The content was great! This was a really well-done setup vid. I was watching on a phone while working on a Surface Pro, and font sizes were a bit small even for my young eyes, but a few lessons in the presenter did increase font size (nice!). Overall this was great and really the cleanest explanation Ive seen so far of Vulkan, which is not a trivial tech.

Very good course, I recommend it for anyone who wants to learn about Vulkan API.
