The course is very easy to follow. At first I thought that sometimes Richard just didn't connect the dots enough for me to answer some of the problem set questions, but it turns out this is deliberate and he throws in some slightly unusual cases that require a bit more critical thinking or a little research. Now that I've gone through about a third of the course I understand his teaching style better and am really getting a lot more out of it. It also helps that Richard is very responsive. I highly recommend this course. *Half-way point update: Still loving this class and I recommend it more highly than before. Upon some additional reading I realize that this course really only scratches the surface, but it's for beginners exactly as Richard put in the title.

The instructor does a good job in explaining the topics in lucid manner. Its good for beginners level or as a refresher course. If you are looking for a comprehensive or advanced level linear algebra this is not the course for you. I needed to refresh my college level knowledge for which this course was helpful. I have also enrolled for the part-2 of this course. Looking forward to that as well.

I took a linear algebra course many years ago, and I was looking for a refresher on the topic. This course was perfect for me because I could speed the course up very quickly to get through the things I already understood and could take my time with areas which required more focus. I also appreciated having ample problem sets to augment the course material.

Very comprehensive and easy to learn method, I really enjoy what I'm seeing here. Maybe you can still improve this whole lesson by explaining what are the geometric uses and applications of matrices and vectors. I've seen lot of well-explained methods but don't see how to use them later (why do we use determinants for, why do we transpose or inverse a matrix, ...). This could be perfect, as you explain things very clearly.

Those folks who are planning to build their career in Data Science , Machine and Deep Learning , This is the best prerequisite course on Linear Algebra . Before taking this course , i have gone thorough many other online Linear Algebra tutorials, those were vast and time consuming where some of the topics were not required at all . But this course covers all the mathematical concepts which was only expected for Machine Learning in short and sweet manner . Kudos to the Trainer... Kind Regards, DP

This course is great in explaining how to calculate this thing or that thing. But! This is the course for beginners and doesn't explain what is it and what it represents. For example, why do we need to calculate determinant? What does this thing mean? What is vector space? Formulas and calculations are great. But in order to understand something you need to understand not only how to calculate this but what this means. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjBOesZCoqc&list=PLZHQObOWTQDPD3MizzM2xVFitgF8hE_ab&index=1

About the level of understanding I expected from a course that is not too long. Really could have invested more time in a more engaging presentation--think khan academy or smartboard drawing. Also and this was super important, the course kind of started out of no where. I haven't finished so maybe there will be more discussion on application later but would like it if there was an introduction about how to think about each section. Why would one want to know if a system is linearly dependent, what does it actually mean in practice?

If you want to know how to technically solve few basic linear algebra exercises- you may find some use in this course. But it you want to understand what's linear algebra, a matrix, vectors etc. and why and when it is used, look for something else since this course is extremely shallow. For example: according to this course a vector is: "A bunch of numbers". I ended up studying it all on Khanacademy. Also- the teaching aids used in this course are embarrassing. all the course in conducted using paint with a mouse (not even a writing board) and you can hear street noise at the background in most lectures.

course is a little slow. but then I am taking this to refresh my college wok done 20 years back - so not a typical student. The instructor is very very careful and diligent in teaching small easy to understand bits and gives good responses too. For someone really interested in learning the basics very very strongly this is the best .

The instructor does a great job at dividing the topics into short, digestible chunks and they are always very clearly and precisely presented (there is repetition but it is just enough, necessary and not overdone). Don't be fooled by the handwriting; I haven't had any issues reading and understanding the handwritten text in the videos. It's entirely possible to finish this course within 2 weeks and leave feeling like you know the basics of linear algebra pretty well. It's a great intro for anyone coming in without any prior knowledge of linear algebra at all.
