Course Description

In todays digital era, the computer is now an instrument. Whether it is used as a medium to create music or a supplemental tool to produce music, there is no doubt the computer is an essential tool for any aspiring musician or hobbyist.

This is where the course comes in. BeatsBlueprint is a step by step beginner level video series course on music production. There is no pre-requisite knowledge required. The goal is to not only teach students how to tap into the potential of a computer, but also, to help facilitate the creative process for students to craft his or her own sound. Using the digital audio software, Ableton, as a medium, students will learn the technical concepts of music theory and how to apply their knowledge to create music across a span of genres.

What sets Beatsblueprint apart is our project based approach. By the end of the course, the student will be able to create his or her own track from start to finish.

In order to complete the course, you must have access to Ableton. Ableton is a powerful software music sequencer and digital audio workstation. It offers a generous demo that allows you to access and utilize its full range of tools completely FREE. After 30 days, however, the trial ends. However, this does not mean you stop making music. BeatsBlueprint specifically designed this course to work across a variety of platforms. Music theory is music theory. Production is production. Regardless of what you choose to use, your knowledge can be adapted to any music software.

the course is reasonable but the instructor has not answered the students' questions for more than 2 years.

Parts of this course are extremely simple and geared toward someone without any knowledge of music. If you have no knowledge of Ableton live and no knowledge of music, this would be a great course to take. On the other hand, the instructor did show how to make some interesting effects and from that I profited by taking this course (i.e.: it added to my knowledge of Live).

Clear and Precise

By Kyle Loyd on 8/13/2016

So far, the lessons haven't really included anything that I couldn't have found myself with just a quick look on the website and through the application. This being said, it is BASIC level stuff, so I understand the dry nature of the content. I don't know why they would ask me to review after lesson three, but I'm going to continue watching.

Seems a bit lacking in structure.

the content is great for starters although there are some parts that are left unclear. Is good as a beginner class to get familiar with the program, but as I advanced into the tutorials I hit some roadblocks that I am now trying to figure out through another training.

I really enjoyed the teaching style of the instructor. He started with the basics and built upon each concept in each lecture. 5 stars!

Not only was the content great, but also, Ian was really open to answering all my follow up questions. Thanks Ian!

Granted I'm not able to make the next top 40 hit, but I am able to craft full songs on Ableton and with time I'm confident my skills will improve.
