Our take
Based on the ratings of 1,039 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in March 2026. No course pays to be reviewed.
This is a short course from Andre Iacono, about 1.9 hours across 32 lectures, built around seven small projects. It opens with setup: choosing an IDE, running a local live server, a little basic CSS, and publishing what you build. It is aimed at people who have never written code, and it was last updated in March 2026. Despite the headline, it is an introduction, not a path to professional level.
Students who liked it talk about pace and clarity. Reviewers describe plain English, step by step instructions and a clear speaking voice, and one calls it a good stepping stone for finding out whether JavaScript appeals. The complaints are consistent too. Low-star reviewers say the projects are very basic, that the real world and pro claims oversell it, and that the material is too shallow to count as a full intro. Two four-star reviewers wanted harder challenges, one of them in the last project.
The rating is a solid 4.5 from 1,039 reviews, with 548 five-star ratings and 23 at one or two stars. About 8,000 students have enrolled. Think of it as an afternoon sampler. It is a fair first step for anyone curious to see code run in a browser before spending weeks on something bigger, and one reviewer says they will look for a longer course to go deeper. Anyone who already knows basic programming will find little new here.
Pros
- Plain English and a steady pace, with step by step instructions that reviewers say are easy to follow
- Seven short projects, each under 25 minutes, so it is easy to finish in an afternoon
- Covers setup too: VS Code, a local live server, basic CSS and publishing the finished pages
- Last updated in March 2026 and needs no prior coding experience
Cons
- Projects are very basic, and many reviewers say the real world and pro claims oversell it
- No quizzes or coding exercises, so there is little practice beyond following along
- At under two hours it is only a sampler, and one reviewer plans to try a longer course
Very clear explanation in plain English at a nice speed. No too complicated, not too basic. I love this course.
Truly for absolute beginners. No coding background is needed, but it will not take anyone far past the basics.

Very clear explanation in plain English at a nice speed. No too complicated, not too basic. I love this course.
By Tieu My Cao on 10/3/2025
solid, most basic fundamentals with really good and easy to follow through explanations. Though I wish, at least with the last project, to be learning something a little harder.
By Hizkia Febianto on 2/14/2025
the topics and examples are too basic. I suggest to add more challenges to each topics. Otherwise, the instructor explains each class clearly.
By Roshi Vojdan on 1/28/2025
This is very great! so to the point! and very clear instructions. Didn't even know that I need to know JS but I think need now :)

Andre did a nice job. He is a good presenter and seems like a nice guy. His accent is lovely. He's left handed . . . just like Leonardo Da Vinci. The course is really light, but deceptively informative. If you know Java or Python, the parts covering how loosely JavaScript modifies lists/arrays is significant. As others have mentioned, the coverage of how to link together html, css, and JavaScript is really helpful, if only introductory. For anyone just learning to script or program, this is an ideal course.

A great instructor with a well-crafted lesson plan. I loved the opportunity to get my feet wet, and see how HTML, JS, and CSS interact together too. Very accessible and appropriate for students that are in coding-adjacent fields like technical SEO, or using tools like GTM.

I believe the instructor cover the basics well, but it would be better to include some more highly use methods and features of js language, at least add functions and classes

It was ok. I don't feel like I went from zero to "hero". I felt like it was more zero to someone familiar with JavaScript as a concept.
By Bianca Van Huyssteen on 3/23/2024
This is the first beginners' course where I was bale to follow the setup of the IDE and have it set up correctly
