This course is good for beginners with no prior excel knowledge. If you wanna become a master, one course alone wont suffice.

A really good course teaching the various functions of excel with basic examples for each function. I personally would have liked some more complete examples and exercises on building dashboards. As a Mac user, I would have liked a few references to using excel on Mac. In general the course was informative and went through all the functions of excel. I also would have like some complex model examples demonstrating how everything comes together. As a course, I would recommend it to people who have little or no knowledge of excel and spreadsheets as this course is definitely a good place to start.

I've completed this course and I must say that Kirt does a great job. I'm already fairly proficient with Excel and now I'm equipped to do even more! Some tools I'm already using with great results! I bought this course on the strength of what I learned in his Access course and I'm glad I did. Looking forward to learning more! If there is a Microsoft Course that Kirt teaches and you need to learn HOW to use it, get the Course Kirt teaches! You will not be disappointed!!

Easy to follow. I learned features that I knew Excel was capable of, but did't know how to access. I also was exposed to tools and features that I was unfamiliar with. I did get a little frustrated in level 3 as the pace was too fast for me to keep up with even when I slowed the speed. I found it was easier to just watch the lecture and then repeat it and practice. Overall it was easy to follow and very informative.

I learned a great deal. The course instructor is well informed. There are times that I wish he was more or less concise, but that's due to my own personal background and is always a risk with online courses. I simply paused or sped up the playback speed when necessary. I would warn Excel for Mac users, however, that they will need to do some additional work/research on their own, as there are many advanced features that are either unavailable on Excel for Mac or must be selected from the long list of commands. The entire backstage area is completely different on a Mac. Sometimes it's easier to navigate; sometimes it's more of a challenge. It did make me wish for a Windows version of Excel, as that seems to offer more features. There are also a few outdated elements in the course, but, once again, a little research goes a long way. In principle, mixing your own research with the course material is a very useful exercise in that you learn to problem solve as you go. Once the course is done, you'll no longer have an instructor to lead you by the hand. The instructor has a few idiosyncrasies (e.g., calling zero's bagels or saying "Oh fudge") that are sometimes amusing and sometimes repetitive, but everyone has their own tics. All in all, I'm very pleased to have purchased and followed the course. It gave me a very firm foundation for honing my own capabilities.

I just finished a 2013 course, which was good for review, and now, I feel much more prepared to do this 2016 course. I think this one is going to be better, though, because I can print out the Instructors Notes and the quizzes (which I didn't have with the other one) so I can keep them at my fingertips and review anytime!

Based on other courses I have taken on this topic, this course covers more topics. Each topic is covered in more detail. I would give the course a rating of 5 based on this. I didn’t give the course the maximum rating due to the presentation. For me the presenter talks too fast in most of the videos. As a result of this the mouse also moves too fast. It would be impossible to keep up with the mouse if it didn’t have the yellow disc with it. The disc is highly transparent so you can see what is at the mouse location. I have watched other videos that used the disc but the disc was barely transparent and you couldn’t read what was behind it. I also wonder if after the original video was prepared it was speeded up and that version saved and used for the presentation. I base this on when typing is done you don’t see it done character by character. Almost the whole string appears immediately. I don’t believe anybody can type that fast.

This course is exceeding my expectations. The course content is arranged in a logical format. The exercises are great. Kirt's tone and pace are spot on. My only negative comment I have is that it is hard to follow along without a sample exercise file. There are less exercise files than there are lessons. Regardless of the missing exercise files, I would strongly recommend this course to others.

I started to understand a bit more by the time i was done. I will have to go thru it again to remember everything. I do not use it as much as i can at work.

By Mackenzie Gray on 7/13/2018

This course helped me understand a vast amount of features that I didn't even know existed on Excel. It has also helped me get through using excel programming in college. I feel better prepared and increasingly confident to say I have special skills in understand the Excel technology.

Great course for someone who wants to learn Excel 2016. The last excel I worked with was the 2003 version and the changes are really mind boggling. However, the creator of this class explains the basics and shows you how to do it without getting bogged down by minutiea.

Clear and to the point, no wasting time with extra helpful information.
