Course Description

It can be difficult to persuade people to adopt the opinion you'd like them to have. Maybe you're a marketer trying to convince people that your product is right for them. Maybe you're an activist trying to convince people to conserve water. Whatever your persuasion goals might be, this course will show you how to be smart about influencing other people's opinions.

Using Behavioral Science to its Full Potential for Persuasion

Everything in this course is rooted in tested persuasion strategies from the science of psychology. I'm not just making things up like a lot of persuasion "gurus." You'll learn practical tips taken from rigorous research in psychology and behavioral science, and you'll discover when those strategies will be most effective.

A few of the things we'll cover:

  • How to get people to pay attention to what you have to say.

  • How to construct captivating persuasive arguments.

  • How to employ simple tricks to make your message more convincing.

  • How to decide between emotional and rational appeals.

  • How to tailor your message to the needs of a particular audience.

  • ...and way more!

Course Overview

Persuasion is one of the most studied topics in social psychology, and its insights have extended to business, political science, communications, and personal development. In this course, you'll understand one of the most prominent and well-tested models of persuasion. Once you have a grasp on that, you'll start to see how all of the elements of a persuasive message come together.

By the end of this course, you'll be able to make smart decisions about how you deliver your message, who delivers it, how to tailor it to a particular audience, and more. Best of all, this course will always be there for you, and you can review the material anytime it's time to craft a compelling message that will captivate and influence your audience.

These tools and techniques also apply no matter what your unique message is. Once you understand the core principles of persuasive influence, you'll be ready to craft messages that influence people's opinions, whether your message is presented in writing, in person, or through audio-visual media.

I liked this course very much and I have learned lots from it and especially I know know what scarcity means and I know what the 5 ways into gettting people to pay attention and they are Limit Distractions, Slow Down, Give Up Pacing Control, Keep The Message Simple and Give them time.

I really learned a lot from this course. Almost every 5 minute learning bite offers something new to learn. I have over 31,000 followers on Linkedin and about 12,000 followers on Twitter. I am a pretty persuasive influencer on those counts, however I am still learning new things with this course. The best thing about this course is that the entire subject matter is organized into a cohesive big picture. Well worth taking it!

While the course is good, especially if you are into marketing and advertising, I came in thinking that I can learn to be more persuasive personally in my day to day live (like how convince my friends, how to negotiate deals, how to present myself to convince others to help me out), which is not quite the case here.

Nice accessible summary of the key psychological aspects of persuation. I can see many of the tips given used in today's marketing and e-marketing, as well as how the speaker of this course market's this course (as a source and in the headline message). Some of the tips do seem obvious, but I suppose the value of this course is that it puts everything into a structured framework that you can plan from in a more organisation manner. The use of slides to summarise the points were helpful - might be beneficial to have some of these downloadable. There were a couple of occasions in the production were you could hear background noise (once with some water being poured (one of the early chapters), another with some kind of pinging noise in Chapter 50). These weren't an issue but I was surprised they had not been edited out - also amusingly ironic given the need to provide confidence to the audience. Aside from that, I thought it was a reasonable use of my time.

The course is really interesting and provided useful information. What could be done to make it better is manage the repeated and redundant parts (there were some repetitions in some topics) like the topic of ability and motivation and the source. So instead of presenting these topics briefly then talk about them again later in the course, they could be presented at once. Also the course could be more relevant if there is less scientific evidence about the strategies and tactics used, and adding more real life examples
